Is this something to worry about do we think or could this just be a one off?

It isn't a one off.

Cam follower wear has been an underlying concern with the GTI since its inception. Even high mileage standard ones have been known to suffer. Regular checks should ensure that the car is okay.

Yeh its been known since all this talk about A and B cams out - I would say check every 10k if you have a modified pump.

Probably down to the amount of development involved for little return (follower isn't expensive!)

I agree entirely. Either that or the tuner that fits the HPFP should include the cost of a new cam follower in the price of the conversion. Rude not to really.

I did and still wonder if the increased thickness would impact on the stroke of the pump...

What is the measurement of the stroke as standard anyway?

Could then calculate the difference as a percentage. :happy2:

Or put the £20 one in and change it slightly more often, not like this one will last forever just the 'estimate' longer than the OEM part due to it being thicker. I have no doubt they know wha they are doing but the smallest of changes in parts like this can have dramtic effects.
