The MK6 rear badge looks far better than the MK5 one so I am going to change my tatty looking one. Has anyone done this? Are the mounting holes/connectors the same?
Thanks
:happy2:

I think it should as SteveP used the Mk6 rear badge for the rear view camera instal on his Mk5.

Yep bacillus is correct the Mk6 badge will fit the Mk5 perfectly :happy2:
-
Are you saying the wiring connector is the same? This is on just an ordinary badge not a RVC
-
The Mk6 standard badge is a plug and play direct swap for the Mk5 badge.
It's the camera badge that has different loom :happy2:

good idea

Thanks all I am ordering one :notworthy:

trim tools dont help to much on the boot plastic cover TBH, if its the first time its been off it will be a bitch lol, you just have to take the two screw out and then remove the bulb covers and yank away, once one or two of the metal clips pop the rest will come

Cheers can't wait to sort out that tatty looking worm ridden badge :signLOL:

If its just the badge your after then no it doesn't I've got one here and its a different shape, but the full mech and badge will fit has I have one of SteveP's camera ones that I bought from Jay.

whats the part number for the mk6 badge minus camera?
From the look of the how to you have to remove the tailgate inner trim to get at the screws?
-
Yes the rear trim needs to removed to get to the three screws that hold the badge/release mech in place.
The part number for the Mk6 non-camera badge 6R0 827 469 ULM :happy2:

Confused. The badge is the same size, yes? If the mounting holes are in a different place then I can re drill = no hastle. But if the wiring connector is different then = chew, as I'm no electronic engineer.
I'm only going to get a MK6 Standard badge and replace a standard MK5 one.
Does that help?
Thanks

Thanks, I went a little last year and cf effect my grill badge and wa :happy2:nted to turn my attention to the rear as its needing attention.

He means the chrome/silver piece of the badge that can be separated from the mech (but is not available separately from VW) has different mounting holes/clips compaired to the Mk5 Badge.

Thanks Steve I'm with you - I think. What you are saying If I understand you correctly is that if you buy the full badge and mechanism i.e pay £90 odd quid then its plug and play. If you want to start separating the silver bit from the back then it is no good.

Correct :happy2:

I have the mk6 badge here and I tried putting it onto a mk5 mechanism but it was more concave inside and wouldn't sit right?
