Interesting..................
So they expect people to pre-order tomorrow with no prices? :chicken:
-
i will be :rolleye:
-
i have already ordered one on o2 and one on vodafone both 32gb versions.
i HATE the iphone but LOVE selling them on ebay to people who do like them and are willing to pay the extreme cost.
The 16gb's are currently up for £600/700!!

Its impossible to have ordered one yet.
All you can do is register interest.

was just typing the same
-
I wish O2 would hurry and announce there prices so i know wether to jump ship or not :signLOL:
-
:signLOL:
:innocent:
-
so you must work for a phone company then or have a mate who does
-
i work in the CPW main building, so yes in a way you right the order isnt placed technically but its in my account and will go through the second the sku's become active.
-
I wonder what they'll offer to keep me in contract with them??
-
Prob feck all as they have taken the info offline (looks like it was an accident) :P
I can't believe with pre order starting tomorrow that we still don't know prices. :fighting:
Me thinks a bit of price fixing might be taking place :fighting:
-
I'm a bit shocked no one has released any info about tomorrow, I'll pre order regardless of cost but if it were cheaper on vadafone, i'd go there instead of o2. I'm not bothered about orange or t mobile as the coverage is awful round my way
-

Any idea on the sim free versions availability /cost
-
They are all rip of merchants. its all a ploy last minute prices no ones wants to comit until they know what the other muppet factory is doing. And who in there right mind pays 600 for a mobile they deserve all they get - turkeys!
-
Anyone seen any prices yet??
-
Anyone seen any prices yet??
Nope not yet.
Just checked all the sites as well :fighting:
-
Hmm. odd.
Wonder if they're all intending to go live at say 8am.
-
Don't know but i think its a pretty poor show that no-one knows (for definate) what anyone is going to charge.
Plus i cant order mine till the 24th anyway as i have to pay out of my current contract which only goes live on the 24th :sad1: :sad1:
So i'll be knocking on the door of the O2 shop in town that day :signLOL:
-
I see the Apple Store is down (7.49am), so they'll be putting the PAYG on the site.

Its Been down since 5am
-
Cool, I wasn't up that early!
I've just rang O2 about an upgrade and they directed me to the Apple website saying they'll be taking pre-orders, even for contract holders. Sounds wrong to me.

take in to account your 18-24 month contracts at a minimum £35pcm and the £200-£300 cost of the handset and you can sell them all day long on the bay for £600-700 at a loss :stupid:
plus they will be available on pay-as-you-go from the offset..........
i hope you loose money :happy2:
-
you can pre order now!
16gb £499 and 32gb £599
only probems is that it comes up page not found and the website is going painfully slowly!
-
Yeah, I'm waiting on the phone - I can't see getting through the order process online without it crashing.
-
Anyone else frantically pressing refresh lol

Let us know how you get on andrew!!
-
Will do!
-
Haha, got through, their system isn't allowing them to place any orders. Answer: give us a call back later. Ouch.
-
System overload!!
Still think its crazy none have them have released pricing yet!
:popcornsoda:
-
went through the order process and then on the final screen it froze then came up SORRY unable to save your order :sad1:

-

-

order placed for 32gb!!!!
took fooking ages on the final screen then finally popped up saying your credit card details have been authorised :drinking:

-
With which carrier?
Surely they must announce which carrier the PAYG handset is tied to?
-
Still unable to order from O2 or Vodafone :sad1:
-
PAYG are unlocked so will work on any carrier
-
£499!
That is steep!
-
no carrier mentioned on the website...
i noticed on the usa site you had to put which carrier you were with etc
im just going to ring up 02 and ask for a micro sim to carry on with my existing rolling iphone contract which is £20pcm
fingers x to see what they say! :happy2:
-
PAYG are unlocked so will work on any carrier
Your right Carl...
Buy your iPhone from
Apple SIM-free.
It works with the carrier of your choice.
Buy your iPhone from the Apple Online Store and choose your own GSM carrier. You can change carriers at any time.
-
I wonder if Apple has done this due to the carrier's being slow with pricing decisions.
-
im just going to ring up 02 and ask for a micro sim to carry on with my existing rolling iphone contract which is £20pcm
This is what I'm doing. It actually states on the tariffs page that you can buy a PAYG and use your Simplicity tariff.
-

Your right Carl...
I know :P :signLOL:
-
:booty:
The whole store is down, I have just tried to spec a MBP and it takes me to the same "Page Not Found!".
-
just got off the phone to 02 and they are sending me a new micro sim so i can carry on with my £20pcm :happy2:
no more contracts :star:
-

On the Apple site?
Apple store is completly down at the minute.......... I may nip into town and go into the Apple store.
-

It's just preorders for PAYG handsets. People will be getting new micro sims for existing contracts and sticking it in the new phone. That's what I'm doing anyway - I'm on a Simplicity tariff.

-
yeah i am on simplicity too so will call 02 and see what going on
-
So the website is down, and phone sales can't sell them at all. Bit of a f*ck up - whatever preparation work they've done for it hasn't really worked.

02 just said we are not taking pre orders

That might prove costly if the other networks do
-
O2 aren't - as far as they are concerned the phone goes on sale on the 24th.
-
:fighting: dicks whats all that about then :stupid:
-

must be down to them not knowing how much to charge :stupid:
-
Oh thy know how muh to charge. However they will be scared of getting pipped by Voda etc so won't release any pricing till nearer the time.
I am going to wait a couple of days i think and let the queues die down. Saying that there were no queues for the 3GS when that was released. So you never know.
So who is getting White and who is getting Black.
Ive always had black due to the plastic back. But as this new one is glass front and back I don't know wether to have a change and go for a White one?
-
Guys - Does the iPhone 4 take regular sim cards? On the Apple website it states it takes the micro sim cards but i contacted vodafone and they said it will take either. Does anyone know?

My local o2 shop said they expect to Start taking pre orders tomorrow but will find out more this afternoon
-
Well they must be having problems if they still haven't got the site live yet
-
well they have managed to email me my order confirmation :happy2:
maybe they have sold out :signLOL:
-
Working for me now. But I'm not 100% certain on what I'm doing yet :fighting2:
-
Working but I still can't get into the ordering stage.
-
i have already ordered one on o2 and one on vodafone both 32gb versions.

1. who said its a loss? i have the contracts anyway and pay that out every month. so all im doin is keeping my blackberrys (plus i discount on the tariff + phone price)
2.When they have no stock left they will also be worth more
3. typical iphone user cant get past that 1 button on the front

apple do not expect any supply issues with this handset, they are ready to ship upto 3million handsets per month :happy2:
so good luck and i hope you enjoy those not so free minutes :drinking:
-
Nice, finally managed to order a 32Gb
-
Ohhh don't know what to do, contract or stay on sim free?!?!
-
The £600 handset cost is a bit of a psychological barrier to say the least! I'm happier to keep the monthly cost lower though, plus there's a bit more freedom of who you use. I'll probably stick with O2 mind, unless Orange announce a better SIM only contract.
-
Does anyone happen to know if the carriers will provide a micro sim card version of your sim card, so that you can use it in the iPhone 4?
I phoned Vodafone and they were not sure on what was happening in regards to this. Unsure if anyone has any information from the other carriers.
I have seen these SIM card cutters being advertised. Don't know whether to give one a try with an old sim card i have and see if it works. :scared:
-

From the O2 site:
Or, you can choose to pay the full Pay & Go price for an iPhone 4 and choose a Pay Monthly simplicity for iPhone tariff.
Do that and they'll give you the Micro SIM
-
My problem is that i am on a 12 month contract with 10 months remaining. What i would like is Vodafone to simply provide me with a micro SIM card version of my SIM, i.e. so i keep the same number, etc.
-
Ah, I see. Not sure tbh.
-
I've just been reading the iPhone 4 thread on Hot UK Deals.
You gotta laugh at these dickheads who constantly slate Apple products. Yes we know they are expensive but in general they are well made and stylish as well as very functional - They just do.
Lots of them have slated the price without really researching the prices of newly released SIM free phones of any brand, oh and of course they all have HTC's which are much better.
Pr1cks :fighting: :booty:
-

I wish I was so lucky - I spoke to someone at O2 and the impression they give is that they haven't a clue what is going on. As far as the person I spoke to knew the micro SIM cards would be available from the 24th at earliest. Not looking forward to having a shiny iPhone and not actually being able to use it for a few days.
I may try my luck again tomorrow!
-
I had same issue as you, bloody joke, I'm just wondering if to cut my old sim down lol

Yes but we are all just apparently Apple Fanboi's and Steve Jobs' biatches :fighting: :fighting:
-
Well my phone is ordered and I'll worry about O2 and the sim nearer the time! :happy2:
-
Ive got 2x 32gb phones in black to pick up from my local store.
-
Is that one for each ear
-
Looks like they sold through their first allocation. Orders made today will ship on the 2nd July.
-
Orange have taken the plunge
http://iphone.orange.co.uk/plans/#iphone-plans
-
they wont do anything though, i spoke to them this morning.
the guy on the phone didnt even know they had released their plans yet! ;(
-
That's a bit sh!t if you get an 18 month contract you don't get unlimited texts on any plan :stupid:
-
Tempted just to get a PAYG phone then sell my 3GS!
-
I'm starting to think the same thing.
At least then I'll keep unlimited data till the end of my contract. Not that I really need it but it's a bonus.
-

But got to a bit of maths first. There are so many variables!

Over 18 months on my simplicity deal i'd save half the cost by buying a sim free phone. Did the same with my 3G! :happy2:
It is a big outlay for a phone but by paying £35-£45 per month on a contract you'll quickly get past £500!
-
It is a big outlay - I paid £350 for my 3GS a few months ago and to be honest its been worth it as I have a phone that works, gets email and made my life easier again - the previous samsun Omnia I got so frustrated with I wanted to throw it at the wall daily.
I might buy one now and then in October when the Business contract comes up move to o2 and get another - then sell the Orange one.
-
Right I'm a bit confused on how these micro sims work.
Currently I am verging on just buying the phone from Apple. However how do I get the micro sim from O2.
I spoke to them and they are saying that Micro-Sims will only be given if you buy the phone from O2. So if I buy a PAYG iPhone from O2 are they going to be able to swap my existing sim & no. to the Micro-Sim.
Or will cutting down my current sim work? ( I have a couple of old sims spare to practice on )
-

Cutting down your current SIM is pretty simple - http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/apple/how-to-make-your-own-ipad-micro-sim-681020 (http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/apple/how-to-make-your-own-ipad-micro-sim-681020)

I don't think that's correct, and it certainly contradicts what is stated on their website. I think regardless of how you obtain the phone they are hardly going to stop you from using their service are they.
Or, you can choose to pay the full Pay & Go price for an iPhone 4 and choose a Pay Monthly simplicity for iPhone tariff.
-
Yeah but I already have an O2 Contract.
However I have just found this
http://www.cutmysim.com/
Even comes with a holder so it will work in normal phones again
-
Yes...just ordered one but they are not shipping until the end of the month/early next month. :sad1:
If this works it will be money well spent. If not then there may be some guy in China laughing while driving his new Ferrari!!! :fighting:
-
im sure there will be plenty of micro sims available for us next week as we get closer to the release date
02 has announced this service for those who want to stay on there existing contract :
http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/ (http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/)
seems pretty straight forward to me, and If I dont get a sim in time then will chop up the old one :happy2:
-
Hmm...O2 seem pretty organised over this. Not seen anything like this from Vodafone!!! Disappointing.
-
O2 aint that organised.
They haven't released prices yet :sad1:

Looking at the guides to cutting up a sim i think i may just do that :happy2:
-
i dont understand carl have you ordered one direct from apple or are you going to get one through 02?
as if the latter then you will get a micro-sim card when you upgrade, start a new contract or buy payg from 02
the only way you can keep your existing contract is if you buy direct from apple and then you will have to ask 02 for a new sim card which you can register on that link i posted above.
-
Thats what i was getting at James
I am going to go to the Apple Store on the 24th and just buy the phone. I may even do it in the O2 store. I was just wondering how to go about getting a Micro-Sim. I know they are supplied when you upgrade however i want to keep my current contract as it is cheaper than the equivalent one on a new contract.
So i wanted to know if anyone knew how easy it was to transfer my number etc to a micro sim. I think i will just cut mine down though. :happy2:
-
I cant see why your provider wont provide you with a new sim, your contract with them is for the phone service and not the phone - you can have any phone you like so they should provide you with the correct sim.
-

There was a guy (presenter) on the BBC website that did this for the iPad and it didn't work. However i think his name may have been Cumberland Fingers!!

This guy managed it ok. i do have a couple of spare sims to practice on though :happy2:

Ah well, couldn't wait. Bailed on the Iphone 4 and just bought myself a HTC Desire. Android FTW :happy2:
I really do think Android will take over from the OS that Apple have, but I still like the Iphone too.
Good luck with the Iphone 4's chaps :happy2:
Oh I got 500 mins, unlimited texts, Vodafone passport and Unlimited internet for £32.50 on upgrade

Be careful with the unlimited internet thing, it's been big in the news recently that they are beginning to enforce the cap on the FuP.

There was a guy (presenter) on the BBC website that did this for the iPad and it didn't work. However i think his name may have been Cumberland Fingers!!
Apple have stated that iPhone sims will not work with the iPad.
The reasoning behind this is rumoured to be preventing people swapping the sim over and therefore only needing one data package.

I notice O2 appear to be the cheapest for the kind of tarrif I am interested in (£35-40 per month @ 18 months).
I'm a little concerned with the 500MB though still. In one week I have used 110MB so I MIGHT JUST be okay.

If you read my Original question you will see that i rang O2 :P :P
Me too, and they were next to useless. It seems they've really put the barriers up when it comes to iPhone enquiries. I sent an online enquiry and just got a standard generic reply directing me to the website.

From the O2 site:
If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and bring along your pre-order confirmation email from Apple. You'll need to show it in order to get your micro sim.

I tend to use wi-fi in the house anyway, so I shouldn't exceed 1gb anyway. The most I've ever done in a month is 420mb on the phone.....even without wi-fi :happy2: although the HTC is taking some serious apps hammering - google voice to text FTW and I've heard Android 2.2 will give full voice to text, so that will be the end of typing in for text messages :jumpmove:
