Title: Fitting MFSW To Car With Paddles Only
Post by: bigalmckenzie on July 23, 2010, 08:14:47 am
Hi Guys,

I'm looking to maybe buy a GTI which has all the spec except the MFSW which I REALLY want.  It's an 08 so
assume it does have the paddles.

My questions are:

- I would want full functionality of ALL the buttons.  Is this possible?

- Who would supply and fit?  What would be the costs?

- If I had to source a wheel where would I go and how would I know I'm getting the right one?

- My preference would be the MK VI wheel but would settle for the MKV if that worked better.

I know there's been threads on this type of thing before but they seem to be more DIY guides - I need someone to do it for me!

Cheers!

Hi Mate

I have had mine done and it is well worth it despite the fact that some buttons don't work, although I hope that may be possible one day. Mine is a 2005 Gti and I have a Mk6 wheel, (hence the issues with the buttons)

Where are you located? Ben from Shark Performance did mine. He is from  Mansfield and here is his web site http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/ (http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/)

He did a great job for me despite many problems due to the car's history, so I am very happy to recommend him.

Hi,

I'm in Glasgow...

I'd really really like all the buttons to work - is that not possible even with a Mk 5 wheel?

Could the guy you recommend supply the wheel too?

How much did he charge if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers,

Alastair.

You'll get full functionality with the correct buttons on your existing wheel!

If you already have DSG paddles you can just get the buttons. There are a few recent post about this, including where to get the paddles and how to do it. I'm surprised you haven' been pointed in the right direction by one of the experts.

Try this for size. http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,12300.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,12300.0.html)
