Title: Slight bubbling of paintwork
Post by: Willy25 on August 04, 2010, 09:58:32 pm
Hi, ive just been to view a black 55 plate Gti and ive noticed some ever so slight bubbling on the front arches/wings and a tiny bit on the rear arch. I was just wondering if this is anything to worry about and how bad could it develop into. I am a bit of a perfectionist. At the moment this is the only issue with the car, otherwise i would of left a deposit.
Thanks, Will

I wouldn't go near it, once rust starts if spreads quickly and is near impossible to stop!

Its just on the arch lip, where it curves into the arch liner if that makes any sense!

I'd leave it well alone

That really doesnt sound good on a 55 plate, especially if there is no obvious break to the paint, it would suggest that its possibly had a repair at some point in its life, and if your a perfectionist then it will probably niggle at you every time you clean the car!

Since you can retro fit almost every original feature with these cars, the most important thing to get right is the body work and the mileage/engine condition.  Oh and as an after thought make sure the cambelt was chnaged at 4 years 40k etc.
