Post by: WILLZIE on September 06, 2010, 01:56:42 pm
After 2 new front tyres, 225/40/18's I believe!.
Could anyone recommend best ones, idealy after Pirelli, but peoples views will be appreciated!. Havent checked any prices yet but sure they won't be cheap!

Many thanks!

Michelin PS3 all the way.

I've used Eagle F1, Vred Sessantas, Avon ZZ3 and PS3 is by far THE best tyre i've ever used :happy2:

I've just ordered a set of Vreds for my motor... PS3's might be good but at £40 per tyre more than im  paying for the Vreds, i'm sure they'll be good enough!

The PS3s have gone up nearly £10 a tyre over the last week, and the Vredesteins have increased a couple of quid a corner.

I've got to say that the PS3 is great in the wet, but you're looking at £600 for 4 at the moment.

I know the ones people recommend on here are good, but they are also a bit costly depending on how you look at it...

For me, Toyo T1-R's have always been a decent choice at a decent price.

I actually just fitted 2 Falken FK452 tyres to my 18" and they came in at £163 for 2 tyres fitted & balanced which was more up my street price wise! Also they are not a cheapo tyre, they are decent enough.

So much so, that i'll be replacing the rear 2 tyres next month with the same ones.

Mac Sams tyres are a good site check them out if your interested as they show your local fitting centres etc.

Pirelli's are not as good as they used to be. Stay away from those Pzero nasties. Had those on my Leon Cupra R and they were awful.

I would go for either Conti Sport Contact 3's, Good Year Eagle F1's or the Vredesteins.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics all the way! Got these on the pescara's and love them great in the dry, and the wet.

I had Yokohama Parada Spec2 on my old car and wouldn't have a set given - dangerous in the wet and love to spin in the dry, also wear down very quick too.

To be honest (and im not having a go at anyone here) i can never understand why people will not pay for decent tyres.

At the end of the day tyres are THE only thing that keep you on the road. It doesn't matter how good your brakes are etc. If your tyres are carp then your on to a loser straight away.

Even if it cost me £200 a corner (which some places nearly get to for PS3) i would still pay it

Just my opinion :drinking:

PS3 give the same (if not better) dry grip as all the others mentioned. (i've used them all except conti sport conatct 3)

However in the wet they are in a class of their own. This is coming from someone who is Stage 2+ as well.

I found them to be a lot quieter than all the others and they have a treadwear rating of 320 so "should" last longer than all the others too :happy2:

It's your choice really though as it's your money. I would just say if you can afford the PS3 then get them but if not any of

Eagle F1 Assym
Vred Ultrac Sessanta
Conti Sport Contact 3

and you won't go far wrong :happy2:

If your budget can stretch, then the TOYO R1R's are a phenomenal tyre.

Otherwise it is another vote for the Vredeteins.

Would have thought if your tyres were carp, they would be great in the wet  :signLOL:
