Because that is what VW initially announced but carried on building them until owners kicked up a stink....and quite rightly so!

I've yet to come across an Ed30 plaque number starting 23xx. Mine is no.2227 and I think there is one higher one on here but also 22xx.
I heard the number was around 2300 although there's nothing official. I'd also like to know how many of each colour?

 Our number from VW is 2260 and someone on here posted 2275. Mine is registered 31 May 08 .I think that 2300 was the number they built but may be wrong

Ye but motorpoint cant import them if they were not made, i mean how many were made in total, world wide.

There is no figure available for world wide as in other countries they where just a special edition.

Hi, they made 2380 all together  yoiu had to ask vw for the last 80 I was told.
Mines is no 2301 and have the documents to prove its legit does anyone have one higher??

#2342 reporting in!!

Mine was first registered in Germany out of the factory so when I spoke to VW they said it didn't already have a number but they could assign 2342 to it. I imagine this is the highest number until they have someone else with the same kind of situation?

Mine's no. 09xx or something, I think. I deleted the plaques.  Not bothered by all the rarity/prospecting/future value BS, all I care about is K04 engine in a GTI + BBS Pescera  :happy2:

I am with pudding on this. Its nice to think its a rare car but I love the look, always wanted BBS wheels on a golf and after its stage 1, its quick enough for me. I have #1000 so a little special for me anyway. I have invested heavily to bring it up to spec and it drives better than a lot of newer cars. Its a keeper even at 140k.

Mine did have a letter from VW UK confirming its authenticity with it (sold car now) but I'm sure if you contact VW UK they'll tell you.
