Just remember some of us will be up and on the road by 5am. :booty:
....I usually get on the road at 5am to go to Santa Pod. I quite like seeing the sunrise. :happy2:

It's quite cool watching the sun rise when you're out driving. Plus the roads are clear :driver:

....It's a favourite time for Police cars though, especially Sunday morning. You have to watch out for the same dodgy guys they're checking out: Saturday night party goers going home the worse for wear. Last time I was out that early, some guys in a small Peugeot were trying to encourage me to race on dual carriageway but I wasn't having anything of it. It was still dark but the car I'd spotted hanging back but matching our speed turned out to be a Police car and pulled them. The last time I got a speeding ticket was at 4:50am - for 93 on a clear dual carriageway... Exactly 3 years ago so 3 points now wiped.
-
Am looking forward to this
Anybody meeting on the East side coming down the A3?
-
Omg, so early! :indifferent:
Just remember some of us will be up and on the road by 5am. :booty:
Ha ha just remember some of us will have just finished the night shift at 06.00
That is if I can't get the night off. :sad1:
-
I should be back in time to attend this  :driver:
-
Ha ha just remember some of us will have just finished the night shift at 06.00
I tend to avoid driving after nightshifts - I'll have been awake for sixteen hours and will only drive if necessary. Otherwise I wait until I've had some rest - safety takes priority IMO.
-
Surrey miniconvoy down there? Or are we rendezvousing at the M27 thingy?
-
I am coming from junction 6 M25 then down the A3. Probably setting off about 7 ish.

That's a pity, KRL. Still, there'll be other meets. Santa Pod for example.

Just changed from a Saab back to my third MkII vRS, this time in blue but with an AGA under the bonnet
Won't be sticking it on the rollers either, whoever had it before me didn't take much care of it and as a result it suffers vibrations from the front wheels which needs sorting ....................... along with a remap!

I suspect the lol bit means he's being sarcastic...
-
Good results them Chungster
especially on the most conservative rollers on the earth :rolleye:
-
Mine made 249.8 and about 290 lb ft peak torque.
HAppy with that.
WOuld be interesting to have a thread with mods and map plus dyno read out to compare cars
-
Always look forward to seeing what other people make at RR days. Is there going to be a results thread?
-
Rollers of truth mate. Bring a 300bhp Stage 1 eddy down to JKM and show me!
Ok I posted a bit early. Saint Steve made stock numbers cos he's missing a BF S2 map!
Stealth turned his boost down to 1 so did 263 first time round. Came back and beat me with 270.
Thor also had probs but re run put him at over 270.
Mandys made 261 I think but maybe her settings are slightly skewed too.
I don't knock eddy S2+ ones tho. Theo made healthy numbers backing up Doms previous runs.
But I dont think it's worth S1 remapping on mine. Straight to S2+ if I do need more power.
Top day out again tho good to see new and old faces. And many thanks to JKM for hosting again.
-

....I suppose that because I organised the event it could be me who starts such a thread. So, just to oblige:

of all the stage 1 ed30s (mostly revo iirc) none came within 20hp of making 300hp.

Twas a good day, and good to meet some new people. :happy2:
Following a somewhat disappointing run on the rollers (174bhp from a MK5 GTI with Stage 1 Revo), the guys at JKM were kind enough to fit the new DV I bought and cure the massive lack of power. Drive home was a world away from the drive down there! Guess I'll have to get down there for another run now that the problems are seemingly corrected to get a more impressive printout.
Thanks to JKM, thanks to Robin for co-ordinating.

Thanks to T_T for fiddling with my Revo settings.

Well, im gutted to say, i have refound my lost power, been for a quick spin, and all is well.So still dont know what she runs at stage 2!!!!.
Just goes to show, as someone pointed out to me, its what your used too,and you think that nothing is wrong.
If only id cleared the fault codes yesturday, and re-tried installing bluefin, i maywell of had a 2nd run to crack 290+.
The mystery of how the map disapeared, i cannot fathom.

....We'll probably never know for certain but could it be human error somewhere in the course of loading etc etc?
I'm really not a Bluefin hater and think that their user unit looks uber cool but personally I would always be a bit concerned about SC's methods even if down to my own ability to make a mistake in the chain of actions.
-
ah damn. thought i got more than yours too lol. not quite :signLOL:

You've got a very nice car though. :happy2:

Just to echo everyones comments...thanks to Red Robin for organising and JKM for having us. It was good to meet people and put some faces to names. And too Simon and Neal who had their DV's replaced how was the drive home?
I'm booked back in for a diagnostic run and inspection on the 25th so I'll post up the before and after graphs when the cars sorted!
-
Ah yeh, i knew i had seen a topic with the mods and power read outs somewhere but couldnt remember if it was this forum or not lol
Cheers for a good day tho and was good to meet a few more people and nosey around some other cars :)
Also thanks to TT for pointing out the urgency of sorting out the chirping under my bonnet!
Oh and one other thing... I mentioned this on the day, i had used VAGCOM to measure the airflow and doing the calculation for power, now by pure fluke im sure, my RR readout was exactly what VAGCOM had predicted with the airflow measured when i logged it a little while back :happy2:
Thanks Robin and JKM for sorting all this out

Drive home was much more enjoyable than the drive down! The difference is massive now the DV has been replaced. I'd be interested to get back on the rollers at some point and see what it is making. Maybe in conjunction with having a Miltek system fitted....

Had you disconnected your battery? Or had a flat? Or removed a fuse?
The Revo maps all revert to stock if the batt has been disconnected - maybe the tin of tuna Bluefin does something similar? Anything on their website, or that Kate can advise?
-
No Blufin is unaffected if you disconnect the battery.

That's that theory urinated on then . . . :sad1:
-
^^that thought entered my mind about the Battery being disconnected when i had my Xenons fitted By Stokeballon back in May/June, but Mr Hedge said that with Bluefin , what he just replied to you shaun.
I must of been running stock power for at least 2 months, i know Sparky craigs R32 was tested down the sliproad on route to a meet, in which the R was disbatched like it had no 2nd gear. So must of been working then.
Im totally perplexed, as it said Bluefin was Installed when i checked it at JKM on the RR day? so wasnt my error of leaving Stock software on the car?

Don't wish to argue with Mr Hedge - but all modern ECUs (especially 'adaptive' ECUs) will revert back to a default setting. Same goes for when a crash sensor is triggered (which basically disconnects the battery). But I don't know how the Bluefin works . . . .
One other issue which has just sprung in my grey matter - could your ECU have been zapped by a virus? Sounds a long shot - but I specifically remembering one teams cars in the BTCC a few years back - where their ECUs were corrupted by a virus - it took them about three months to discover!

Could the Bluefin somehow leave a 'ghost' imprint in the ECU - even when it is disabled? I know Revo add some sneaky code, which can potentially lock out other tuners maps . . .
-
You can argue with me if you want Sean but you'd be wrong. I had the battery off mine whilst mapped and all was fine.
As you are so fond of saying it's not the same as Revo.
-
Sean the issue with the REVO reverting back to base settings is limited to REVO (AFAIK) and is caused because REVO use different areas of memory to store the map and it's settings.
This is also borne out by the fact that if you had REVO or a REVO trial you will need a stock flash before being mapped by anyone else.

OK - I think we got that.
But what I was trying to raise with Steves Bluefin issue was also the possibility of ALL ECUs (remaped or not) reverting to base settings when the batt is disconnected. Don't forget - all modern ECUs use an element of fuzzy logic - and it was probably worth 'clutching at straws' - maybe there is something in the Bluefin whereby you either have to wipe all the 'learned' settings . . . . dunno. Anyway, Steve seems to have sorted it.
This is also borne out by the fact that if you had REVO or a REVO trial you will need a stock flash before being mapped by anyone else.
Revo agents can still do this - they should all have access to all the OEM maps.
-
I was under the impression that Bluefin uploads my stock map off the car and replaces it with their map.
But how was it running a stock map when it wasnt ment to be in the ECU?
In other words, how was it running if the map had either error'd or not producing higher power.
The graph clearly indicated it was running stock power and torque curve?
-
You sure you pressed the right button on the bluefin Steve
-
I have 3 witnesses when the Bluefin was connected.
Thankfully not my foolish error this time
-
Could your error have been Bluefin??
-
:signLOL:

Could your error have been Bluefin??
Should we have a poll on that

Custom Code it is then :angry015:

RR do you know if JKM are gonna put the days pics and results onto their Gallery?? :happy2:

....I'll ask Kate 2moro.
They usually do but invariably later cos they're busy.
-
Robin is correct :happy2:
When we get the time, they will go up. I have all the details from the day here, just waiting on time to get the data off the dyno and pictures edited etc.

....Thx! I forgot to call ya! I hadn't got around to calling you yet in my busy schedule where I don't have time to work
I look forward to seeing you in the next couple of weeks :happy2:

Results and Dyno plots all up on the JKM gallery now.

Wow! That was a jinxed day - all of the ED30s had something wrong with them!
Also a couple of blown DVs which demonstrates the potential problem if it's not been replaced with the new revision.
-
^^^
JKM got to the bottom of my issue yesterday, they changed the spark plugs and put it back on the dyno, figures are now 280.1 hp and 290 ft/lb torque which i am very happy with.
-
Good stuff Mandy :happy2:
-
Glad to hear it Mandy. :happy2:
Nice to hear that it wasn't JKM "inventing" work of the back of RR days then, as was posted elsewhere along with the split DV's, rubbish Revo settings and not loaded maps. :stupid:
-
My car's still running short from its all time high... :sad1:
No time to investigate though!
-
Who did the red R belong to? Power seems a bit low?

Chris halfpenny on here. Yes I thought that. :sad1:
-
has yours been on JKMs before Ian? he was identical mods iirc. what were the applied transmission losses though. would be better to compare WHP for accuracy.
edit-----
just remebered JKM disabled the rear wheels so it was only FWD.
-
No not been on JKM's rollers yet
Yes JKM, as it is a 2WD RR have to disconnect the Haldex.
