Title: PND's Shadow Blue GTI
Post by: PND on October 13, 2010, 12:49:02 am
Thought I'd better officially say 'hello' to you all... I've only owned my GTI for four and a half years without getting some proper pics uploaded!  :ashamed:

Anyway, after some recent upgrades on the inside (big thanks again to Darren  :notworthy:) and some round ones on the outside (cheers again Shaun  :happy2:), a good few hours at the weekend with various products, and most of all, a large helping of unexpected sunshine, here are some pics of my car..  Hope you like them, and yes I know.. it needs dropping a bit!

For those who don't know, it's Shadow Blue!

Paul.

Nice paul, like the rear LED lights and the Pescaras and must say it looks in great condition, I'm guessing Darrens addition was RNS related?

Cheers Darren - thanks for your recent assistance!

Shadow Blue - looks great when the sun comes out.. not quite so 'vibrant' when the sun goes back in!

It's an early 2006 that hasn't seen too much action!  RNS? Might have been..

Looking great.Got the same wheels on my black 5 door.
I'm still recovering from the big cleaning session!  Really pleased with the wheels - so much better than the Monzas!

Thanks a lot for the comments chaps!

Right, what's next.... hmmm..

Surprised you went for pescaras over monzas. I think the latter are awesome.

Great colour. Have you thought about colour coding the black plastic?

I've lived with the Monzas for over 4 years, and having only put the new wheels on last Sunday, it feels a bit like having a new car again! So, for the moment at least, the Pescaras are staying put!  I'm going to keep the Monzas though - maybe stick some winter tyres on if the conditions are anything like last year!  I've been tempted a few times to get it all colour coded - not looked into it seriously yet though..  Probably a bit wary about how good a colour match could be achieved!  The pics exaggerate the difference - in the flesh it's not so noticeable.. but it would look nice!  :happy2:

Very nice.
The best colour too  :happy2:
You should add your photos to the 'the colours' sub forum, shadow blue thread as theres only a couple on there sadly and its such a nice colour.

All mods so far are purely cosmetic..

Please don't let me start down the performance mod route... (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsmiley-basic%2Fsadno.gif&hash=06db04c901cbc6238d766b35cd578c383e008408)

Looks schweet! Colour coding, and led rears make a big difference. Prefer the Pescy's over the Monzas too!
A wee bit lower would look tidy :innocent:
I think the majority of us on here at that stage with the wifes!!

Thanks for all the positive comments chaps!  (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsmiley-basic%2Fwave.gif&hash=c7ee955dffcd278b91a612879e66f4e5291a3050)

Now, is lowering it classed as a 'cosmetic' or 'performance' mod?  Hmmmm.... (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsmiley-basic%2Fwiggle.gif&hash=dd14bbcf31efaf394f4dd0acbce9b42b3fe44302)

Depends how low you go
Must say im very impressed how your mk5 looks its how i always wished mine had looked.
Only thing looks wise i would do if it was mine would be tint the DRLs as they look very light in comparison to the front lights.

I count my drop as cosmetic as it's 15-20mm. You could argue it either way though

Cheers Snoopy!  Your kind words are appreciated.  The DRLs do come in a 'smoked' version as opposed to my clear ones.  At one point, I did buy some InPro smoked wing-mirror indicators but decided against fitting them as I like the way the rear LEDs, the OEM indicators and my DRLs all seem to tie in together and stand out.

Makes a change from the 'stealth-look' black GTIs! :signLOL: (I like them all really!)
