Title: Genuine VW MFD2 Sat nav.

Thinking of one of these for my 05 GTI.Couple of things please guys, i have the GTI with no arial on the roof will this still be ok ? & is there ant battery drain with this type of unit?.

No and no. You'll use a GPS aerial and stick it behind the dash somewhere  :happy2:

To clarify the above, there is no issue with this unit and cars that don't have a roof mounted aerial (I did this retrofit myself with no roof aerial).  :happy2:

Not sure which are the latest maps availabe and no you don't get full postcode search.  To be brutally honest a tom tom is a much better navigational aid.  But it looks, and sounds better than a RCD unit so look at the nav element as a bonus ... its not terrible but not great either.

Probably better to hold out for an RNS510 if the nav funtionality is important to be honest .
