Hi can anyone confirm that if I disconnect my battery I will not loose the revo map, had the car mapped yesterday stage one on a golf gti mk5, the ecp light comes on intermittently and the car goes into limp mode, if I turn the ignition key off then restart the car all is fine for a while then the light comes back on and back in limp mode,
I have been advised to do this
epc is related to throttle etc hence Electronic Power Control
so more than likely to do with DBW, see what code is in it but for the time being dissconnect the battery (make sure you have the radio code), re-connect turn the ignition on(leave on for 30sec or so) then start the car.
This will have done a TBA which eliminates one potential factor!
Thanks in advance

that method might clear the fault in the ecu but if the fault is still thier it will only bring the light back on. I would get the cat scanned then fix the problem..I have heard if you get a flat or change the battery that it goes to basic settings on the revo map.its the only think that puts me of getting revo

thanks for the advice, some say the revo map does go back to stock others say no? i was told to dissconnect the battery and the folowing would correct this
DWB= Drive By Wire
TBA= Throttle Body Alighnment
this will make sure that the trottle body alighnment and adaptaion as been done (which is an essential part of EPC system) if it's lost its adaptation values then it will throw a wobbler every now and again and will give you nothing!

If you just got it mapped by a REVO dealer did they not give you a code so you can buy a Serial Port Switch.
I would recommend you buy this for the anti theft alone.
But if you want the wife/girlfriend/boyfriend to drive occasionally then its good to put it back.
Also good for those battery disconnect moments.
And crap weather to reel it in a little.

My revo map never went back to stock on disconnecting the battery but others have had a different experiences.

thanks for all the advise, seems to have settled down now, light is staying off, will invest in a switch I think, I assume you can not switch maps on the fly, or can you?, how much do they cost and do you have to buy them direct of revo?
-
The switch is £100 when buying a map IIRC.
Cannot switch on the fly and the switch is a REVO product so from REVO direct or the REVO dealer.
I hope the REVO dealer didn't give you that advice about TBA etc.

What he said and the SPS+ is even more flexible.

DBW is a system not something you can reset and loosely refers to you not having a traditional cable from the throttle pedal but electronic wiring instead.
TBA - Bit of an old wives tale about open door, shut door stand on one foot with a finger up your nose, blah, blah. In truth a TBA should be carried out using a diag tool after disconnecting the battery. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Throttle_Body_Alignment_(TBA)
