Title: Window Tints Yae Or Nae?
Post by: golfman on February 20, 2009, 08:29:12 pm: Whats everyones opinion on window tints?
im thinking of getting the rear windows done but have heard that the lines on the back window show up is this true?
and does anone have any pictures of depth of tint to show me please

Post by: vwrascal on February 20, 2009, 08:35:33 pm: GET em tinted mate, they do show white lines but still look the dogs IMO, rears on mine are 100%, fronts WERE 50% but got pulled by the fuzz and ordered to take em out- pain in the cornhole getting the adhesive off :sad: fronts must let 75% of light in supposedly :sick:

I did this in my Leon Fr as it came with rear tints and it bugged me so got the fronts done slightly lighter looked better but i found it a bit dodgy espec with vision for motorbikes espec ones who forget their front lights so when i got the golf I have left it alone.

how about a coloured film instead? give the glass a different colour, greens, blues and purples etc

Post by: 182_blue on February 20, 2009, 09:16:30 pm: Mine are OEM tints and they look good imo, im not a fan of aftermarket as you get those white lines all around them, and all over the back, we mainly got them for the Baby though, i wouldn't do them too dark either

But the rear i agree tbh, if you cant get away from the white rim and heater element lines, it doesnt look too good imo. Im looking to have mine done as long as the same thing doesnt happen again. Someone else that i know may be able to do it.Perhaps Factory tint rear screen is a better option.

You start off with very small white lines, i.e. the trapped fluid - but leaving the car in the sun soon sorts that out in a couple of days.

I had my car done 35% all round. It's tinted subtly and not "in your face". After all we don't want to be attracting the attention of the "babylon" or come across as drug dealers? :embarrassed:

Until it was mentioned I had never noticed the white line, which you can see the A4 has.

Love 'em just the same & would have them on any car, keeps the little kiddies cool and comfy as well

they look dark on pics but they are not bad at all

Thats a good shout but ive just purchased new smoked Wing Mirror Side Repeaters :grin:
And some nice new gti pedals will hopefully fit tomorrow and post some pictures :happy2:
Would like to buy some r32/ed30 rear lights but isnt there some issues with the reverse or fog light on the wrong side so it wouldnt pass an M.O.T.?

I don't like window tints. They always make me think that the driver/owner is being pretentious.

However, I have a graded blue strip across the top of my windscreen which makes a typical English grey day look a lot happier and a blue sky an even deeper blue.

The car has changed a lot since this pic was taken but the blue strip is still there.
