Title: Parking Ticket Help Please
Post by: Nasir on December 30, 2010, 05:22:25 pm
Hi guys, got a parking ticket outside Leeds hospital today but I'll explain the story so you can help me better.

I put around £3-4 into the machine as I knew I would be there a while and needed 2 hours, I needed some extra money so I went into the ashtray of my car but it was a tight squeeze next to a Mini so it took me a while to get it out. At this point the machine just took my money and didn't give a ticket, I pressed the button but nothing happened. I told a police officer but his response was not my problem. I decided to put in the remaining change I had which only gave an hour, I returned to find the ticket.

I feel I've been hard done by and I'm not willing to pay, I can write to them but what do I say? How do I go about it?

Start by explaining how much you put in as they must balance the actual cash to a figure the meter / machine thinks it has at some point? so there shuld be a difference.

Ideally should have phoned a number or got someone when it happened but they probably where no where to be seen. Police won't be interested as parking is not a Police matter unless causing an obstruction / dangerous position on Highway.

How much is the ticket?

I can't remember the exact number but it's around £3/£4. That could help mate, thanks. I know I should have rang them but I was late for my appointment so it wasn't an option. The tickets £50, which wouldn't be a problem if I was in the wrong and I'd just pay it and forget it but this ones got to be different.

I know, and a lot of money at that, most people visit for 2 hours or more which is over £4.

Also I forgot to mention, I left a note on my car saying I did put it in the right amount but the machine didn't give a ticket. Any more advice/experience?
