The fact that the word tuneage occurs more than once in this thread probably means I won't enjoy any of them!

Being in touch wiv the yoof I quite like some of them.
Heard this a couple of times on Radio 1.
:signLOL:
-

No one into Rock then? I hate all that Jungle crap!
Yeah, me. Did you not guess from my earlier post?
-
^^^^
Did someone mention Thin Lizzy? - Memories (though a little vague) of when I lived in Chelsea and hung out with the Rock 'n Rollers of the day. Been to their concerts.
A different mood/energy for Rock, but still one of the greatest:
^ I was there (London gig of same tour) and flying high on drugs and that night is still in my blood.
Those were the days - Everyone would be passing around joints - None of this PC rules and regulations crap!
Something more Chill I've been listening to a lot recently: Cafe Del Mar:
^ Loving the spacial production and warm voice of the singer. Solid bass too, without destroying your internal organs.
And something more energetic, proving that Black sista's can rock too:
^ Have seen BK play lots of times and she's excellent live - Greatly underrated imo.
Like Robert Plant, she's from Wolverhampton too.
Gotta say, I fancy her like crazy - My ultimate Black chick.
-
Something completely different... one of my friend composed this and set it to a video!
-
-
^^^^
Ah! The Fugees - Dated but excellent.
Ex Fugee, Lauryn Hill:
^ :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I could go on posting music vids all night....
^ Solid!

So, does no-one like Justin Bieber then?

I refuse out of principal to listen to anything that has "Featuring" or "FT" or "ftr" in the song title......
-
I had that as my facebook status a while ago!
-
Time to redress the balance mefinks and cut the (c)rap.
-
Woooh that took me back Ben, not heard this in years!!
Which then took me on a trip down memory lane!
Used to be well into Ice T Body Count, won't post it up here but thats some crazy shizzle if you get the chance to look it up!

And how about good exhaust music!
I'm going to be recording a song featuring some V6 (Mk4 R32) sounds soon (this year).

Dave, why cant you listen to collaborations? thats a bit strange! :signLOL:
-
Jamiroqai and Diana Ross collaborated to sing upside down - to date still one of my absolute favourite tunes

Well Robin....a rocket powered Dragster is a fast car, just cant see Richard Hammond agreeing with you entirely.
As ever its all about perspective.....
The "Featuring" comment is not about collaboration its about that corner of the music industry which is less about technical ability & artistic talent, what impresses me is the ability to stand up in front of audience of people on a stage and perform music without it just being the guy holding the mike upside down and a dude with a laptop pretending to press the keys in time to the music......
Call me old fashioned.... But look at the shows laid on by the likes of (for example) the Red Hot Chilli Peppers..... Technically Amazing (not the lightshow but musically!!)
I'm inviting ridicule here (for the record these are not my cup of tea) but I'd rather get dragged by somebody else to a Beyonce/Take That/Kylie Concert to watch world class musicians do their thing than listen to even a catchy manufactured song from an artist who insists on misspelling their name with a "Zee" in it to make the name "James" sound more interesting........
I have a pub test....if they cant sing the song in a pub and make it remotely sound like the Album then its fake and therefore not for me......
(Dons tin hat and runs for cover)
Regards
Dave
(Ex Bass Player - slightly miffed after giving away my last Trace Elliot 4x10 to a mate to make way for a baby changing unit)

Has anyone seen snow patrol live? out of this world!!! "give me strength" is a tune
-
been into these from about 2002
stone sour just seen em live
avenged sevenfold seen em too
linkin park
and some heavy heavy stuff too
-
Dave... I agree, its all about the musicians and performance for me, 95% of what you hear on the radio doesn't involve any of those!
-
I'm a MASSIVE 30 seconds to mars fan!
obsessively so! almost to stalker degree
met the band, and even been on stage with them this year at cardiff after watching the show from the side of the stage
me with the guys:

Dave... I agree, its all about the musicians and performance for me, 95% of what you hear on the radio doesn't involve any of those!
....It's always been that way - A very high percentage of music in every era of musical history has been rubbish. It's the good stuff which lives on and we forget the rubbish of yesterday but can't avoid the rubbish of today.
I'm very much a studio recording musician rather than live and that's where my strengths are. The recording medium is just as much a creative instrument as the musical instrument itself. Such generalisations in music creation don't work imo. It's only about one thing: SOUND - Nothing more and nothing less. Unless you're sensitively dead, sound effects how you feel.
Btw, DaveB, thanks for explaining your views :happy2:
-
^^ True robin... but live is where its at for me. You cannot recreate the interaction of musicians in a studio with Logic, unless you record 'live' (not tracked separately) which is happening less and less. Its usually the musical imperfections of a live recording that are my favourite, so much music these days just sound fake and over worked.
I agree... theres always a lot of tat, shame that there seems more and more tat and less and less actual talent.

....The thing is to keep an open mind and not get into a mindset which pits Live Music versus Studio Music. There's room for both.
If you bother to visit my MySpace music page (not updated for over a year) and listen to "Three Flight" at bottom of player's list, it was recorded 'live' inasmuch that it was recorded in Logic in the studio and just one take - A song which was totally unwritten - Steve just told me to start playing something and then he joined in on keyboard and Amanda was in the booth singing. None of us knew what 'song' was going to happen or what the next note would be. Amanda was so moved emotionally that she came out the booth crying. There ain't nothing wrong with recording.
I might add that Amanda had never recorded with us before - Our first ever recorded song together. I met her when performimg live and she, a stranger, asked if she could join me onstage and sing.... Open mind, always keep an open mind.
-
Im not condemning Recording per-se... but of its misuse!
(i checked ouy your myspace when i first joined this site... :happy2: )
-
Ahh, Robin, you'd get on well with my father-in-law.
He's often telling me stories of his youth in London and gigging, seems he used to hang out a fair bit at Chislehurst caves and saw all the greats, then more at University in Liverpool.
I grew up seeing anyone who could play in Manchester during the Indie kick off in the late 80's, early 90's - but it doesn't sound a patch on riding your motorbikes to bizarre caves and then going drinking with Hendrix afterwards.
-
Im not condemning Recording per-se... but of its misuse!
....No, I understand. The technology nowadays allows anyone to record in their bedroom or wherever and that's a good thing because it doesn't restrict talented folks from having to get a recording contract to create their music. The downside is that... Well, what we've been discussing, lower standards by those who are less talented. The fact that it's always been cool to be a music star doesn't help.
-
i liked metallica and megadeth, then oasis and dodgy and then electronic dance music sasha/nick warren/oakenfold/dave seaman etc. its fair to say i like a lot of different music.
-
.
I like all sorts of music too, though classical the least.
It doesn't matter how music is made but only matters if you like it < I think Tom Petty said that.
-
.
Less talk and more music:
No apologies for having posted this on another occasion.
-
For me the artist of the moment and last 6-9 months must be Plan B. The boy can sing. :notworthy:
-
Some more tunage from myself!!! A bit of a difference in taste to my last post but hey I like anything
And my top 3 listened to tracks on ITunes
Performed at my first ever live concert too :star:
Thats all for now :happy2:
-
Remixes:
Stick with the first one, there's hardly any Holly on it and it quickly turns into a bass rich dub version.
-
Ohh yeah... SOD!!
Its probably as musically remote as you can get from my actual taste in music... but I love a few of their tunes! :happy2:
-
I spent the whole 1st year at music college trying to master the intro on guitar....
-
^^^^
That Holly V song is written by a Turkish guy - You can easily tell if you're familiar with Middle Eastern music.
Reminding me nicely how very much I love this:
Thanks for that Holly V song version - Very good indeed - Even has flute on it :happy2:
-
I spent the whole 1st year at music college trying to master the intro on guitar....
And?
-
I spent the whole 1st year at music college trying to master the intro on guitar....
....Did you try turning your guitar upside down and playing left handed like Jimi did?
What a cool cat :notworthy: - I wonder what he'd be playing now if he was still around.
-
Love this one of Prince giving some big names a guitar lesson.
-
^^^^
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Simon! How can we forget to include Prince in this thread!
That's a mighty fine track: One of George Harrison's best songs and I love Tom Petty's voice. Those supergroup get togethers are often a mess and with too many ego's competing (you have to have ego to be a star) but this one is awesome.
The genius Prince:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xarqjm_prince-purple-rain-live_music
I adore Prince's music and have been lucky enough to see him a few times. Once a week after Michael Jackson and stunning as Jacko was ("Bad" tour), Prince was more varied and more real. His guitar playing is always quality rather than quantity.
-
.
Here's a cleaner sounding vid of The Purple One's "Purple Rain":
When I first heard and saw film of Prince I thought he was a weirdo in love with himself. But whatever he is or isn't, he can play just about anything - Funk, jazz, rock, ballad, gospel, blues, and do it all well. His live shows are amazing. Genius!
-
Something a bit different, the Icelandic band Sigur ros (Victory Rose in Icelandic). I can't really think of a suitable genre to put them into, they are their own genre! You will have most likely heard songs from these guys being used on numerous tv shows and films - Top Gear, BBC's Planet Earth series, Vanilla Sky. Amazingly talented and something great to zone out to, Jónsi's voice is stunning, I'll let the music do the talking though!
I recommend the following songs from their albums "Ágætis byrjun", "( )" and "Takk"
Njósnavélin (The Spy Machine) - This is played at the end of Vanilla Sky on the roof of the skyscraper
Flugufrelsarinn (The fly's saviour)
Ágætis Byrjun (An alright start) -
Glósóli (Glowing Sun)
Beautiful!! :congrats:
-
Maybe not to most of your tastes...
Heres a new one...
-
One of my favourite tracks of all time. :notworthy:
Tool - Lateralus
and this piano cover, speechless!!
-
.
Still one of the greatest bands in the world:
^ You can see how much they hate their jobs!
Not the greatest quality of film but the sound is good and captures the atmosphere :notworthy:
-
Now let me hear the bass DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
-
Great tune!
-
Maybe not to most of your tastes...
Heres a new one...

Think this is the best place to put this... Just came across this video on yahoo and was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of the first song he raps and the one at 3:32, thanks!
-
My newest favourite track - vid is awesome. XR2i, Italia 90 and warehouse raves  (Despite being too young to remember that properly  )
Great club banger
Possibly, just possibly my favourite progressive track of all time - it would be a big list that said...
-
No i on that XR2, that were the mk3!
-
lovin the new chase & status, brings back some memories and i like the beemer,xr2 and cossie in the vid
keep the vids comin guys :happy2:
-
.
When the oldies play well they play very very very well :notworthy:
O M G ! And I thought that the effects of all those recreational substances had all worn off a long time ago.
This vid really captures the atmosphere of what those life changing concerts were like. Stunning piece of music too.
-
lovin the new chase & status, brings back some memories and i like the beemer,xr2 and cossie in the vid

Yes! :drinking:
The videos excellent. Really gets some memories of old nights out going.
My mate said he verified the reg plate on the XR2i and it's currently taxxed and active, thus implying they did that vid specially with dubbed bits and retros? Quite cool
No i on that XR2, that were the mk3!
Was that meant to say that you know of that particular XR2i Si? :P
-
I love that polished spatial studio sound
-
to add to the old rave flavour:
-
It's an XR2, not an XR2i! I had the former as my firstest car. I tried looking it up on the DVLA website a while back, but it appeared to be a goner. Not surprising as it was already rusting away in the mid nineties. Not a bad innings for a 1989 Ford!
:rolleye:
-
more big bass drops and bleeps... just for the haters :P
-
I suffer from an easy listening disease nowadays. :ashamed: never used to, but find myself hunting out great voices.
This lady seems to have appeared from nowhere, and has an amazing old style voice.
And Adel's singing is improving a lot, to go along with her amazing voice. Still cringe when i hear, her being interviewed.
I can listen to this song over and over. :happy2:
-
Rumer has got an unbelievable voice.
Check out this girl... youll either love it or hate it!

Anyone else noticing that YouTube is getting rather strict with its copyrighting??
Bit of dizzie and chase and status
And I must also comment that the Chase and Status album is well worth a listen :happy2:
