It's in Autocar so it must be True :signLOL:
-
Sound very possible though,
-
So expect the new MKVI's to have a cheaper chassis AND a cheaper engine than the MKV - but still cost more

Just because you have a posh Toyota Avensis doesn't mean you can start hurling abuse everywhere  :booty:

From reading the Scirocco forum there seems to be a few issues with the engine ? (Misfiring among other things), and all sorts tried to fix the problem with the end result being a new engine!!, wonder if thats behind it too ?
-
It'd be a shame, it's a belter of an engine.

I'm sure my statement will prove true, given time Carl
and it's a VERY posh Avensis if you don't mind :signLOL:
-
read quite a few articles on this now. Alot of people jumped on the bandwagon saying it was down to reliability, but the engines 5 years old and has won the top awards everyear since its release, so i doubt that tbh. Cant imagine it being cheap to make though

....But nothing like as posh as a new RS3, especially in grey
-
IMO the twincharger is overkill you don't need to twincharge if you turbocharge it properly in the first place, other makes manage just as well and make similar power/torque.
-
seems like it might not be true, according to this guy on SCN
... i would know it if volkswagen wants to stop the production of the 1.4 TSI engine ... and volkswagen don´t stop the production. END!
i know it because i work at Volkswagen AG Wolfsburg in the Research & Development.
at the end of this year, maybe at the beginning next year, another (very fast) Polo comes out with the 1.4 TSI Engine ... so, we don´t need to talk about the end of this engine ...
-
^^^^ Oooh, Polo R on its way??? Suddenly my ears prick up and the Polo becomes not just pretty, but pretty interesting too....
Bring it on, make mine a blue one. Mid life crisis here I come.
4wd too!!!
-
^^^^
That KevinIB guy from VW Wolfsburg R&D needs to come over here and not waste his time on SCN!
Someone PM him
-
to be honest guys ive replaced at least a handful of these engines for crumbled pistons between the piston rings in scirroccos and golfs, i dont really rate these engines for that reason, but when there running good they are great for what they are imo! :happy2
-
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo dont say that, mines being built as we speak
-
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo dont say that, mines being built as we speak
That will be staying standard then. or maybe just a mild BF map.
-

 I'd hang on to that Peugeot of yours mate :driver:
-
Ha you won't want to go stage 2+ if the pistons like to melt on their own :signLOL:
-
some forged pistons, uprated rods a map n it should be a sweet punchy solid wee 1.4! lol :happy2:
-

its gone, im without a car for the minute
That will be staying standard then. or maybe just a mild BF map.
you say that, ive actually been considering Bluefin for that very reason. REVO will be very aggressive and high on torque. Maybe bluefin will be more reserved. Id go there and get them to map it @ their HQ though if i was to do it
-

Probably cost half as much as the car
-
I think we can only hope that VW will go the extra mile and beef up the internals if they're going to start producing 200+ BHP versions of this little engine.
I can't see well heeled trendy Audi S1 owners putting up with knackered engines for long.
-
.
Audi RS1 anyone?

Not into the engine/turbo upgrade route. Ill do whats safe for the standard internals and gear box and no more. Ill just do the brakes and handling instead.
hedge stop laughing at my 1.4. Just because you have nearly 3 times the CC
-
I was under the impression that the 7 speed DSG in the Fabia vRS (that is what your having built, isn't it?) is a hair's breath from maximum tolerances on the torque front, so no remap for Sy!!
-
You can remap it. The torque delivery is altered and the curve fattened without the level actually being increased so i'm led to believe
Still won't sound as good as a vRS with VF Engine Mounts :P

they remap to 210-220hp but peak torque only improves around 5NM so is still within limits. As carl said the rest of the torque curve is raised so you have a more consistent level of torque throughout the rev range.
These limits from what i gather are forum rumour from what i gather. the main tuners like APR and REVO have dopne their testing and say the DSG is more than capable its just the clutch that will give out early. But thats no different to a TFSI in that respect
@ carl. ive heard Mounts on the fabia make it sound like a V8..

Nooooo you have misquoted. They make the Fabia sound like an 8V

You should hear engine mounts on a 2CV!
[WARNING: The soundtrack is nice and loud!]

even the dreaded htp
you laugh, someone on briskoda made one my favourite ever comments
This is a quote from a guy about his HTP fabia. You can see my comment below it
name='fabia19' date='15 January 2011 - 13:34' timestamp='1295098461' post='2239955']
Had a 1.2 HTP as a courtesy the last 3 days,, the same white with black pillars too. But no alloys, and that thing flew along and sounded like a ferrari. I would love to try a VRS. Nice choice mate.
Think i just misread that!!1
And his reply to that was
name='fabia19' date='16 January 2011 - 13:24' timestamp='1295184242' post='2241230']
Maybe Im just too used to the SDi engine note, but that 1.2 HTP really impressed me. Lovely noise, like a baby V6.
so the HTP sounds like a ferrari

For a minute there i thought someone had dumped an F1 V10 into a 2CV.

....Someone already has 'dumped' a Ferrari engine into a 2CV!
^ Possibly my dream car! Stick with the vid to see and hear it in action and enjoy :happy2:
