Title: Footwell LED's
Post by: snapey on February 06, 2011, 05:12:47 pm
Evening.

I've searched around but to no avail.

Has anyone with the footwell LED lamps experienced any flashing/flickering? The only reason I ask is that last night, when I turned the ignition on, the footwell LD's pulsated for about 5 flashes before completely switching off.

It does it every time now when the ignition it switched on. I'm not sure if this happened with the halogen bulbs but I'm pretty certain it never did.

Has anyone experienced this after fitting them?

The bulbs in questions are: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260729561654&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1694wt_1141 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260729561654&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1694wt_1141)

Luke.

You need 'canbus' friendly bulbs for the footwells as they are monitored by the canbus system.

Trouble is, not all bulbs marked canbus safe really are...

According to the eBay page. they have sold them on the back of them being safe so I can only take them at face value... Failing that, they'll be going back.

It's easy to do. You prise the holders out from the trim, disconnect the wire making sure it doesn't disappear back into the hole, bend the 4 metal lugs back carefully to separate the metal part from the plastic part. Then you change the bulb and put it all back together. Should be a 10 minute job  :happy2:

Their clearly not canbus safe, so send them back.

I have LED's in the footwells and they have never flashed on ignition.

Update. On to the second set and exactly the same is happening, supposedly CAN-BUS safe. Video show's exactly what I mean when cycling the ignition.

Has anyone got any links to LED's that they've brought that aren't subject to the same issues.
