They are mad expensive from the dealers

Ive heard that this place is very good from another forum:

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/ (http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/)

For a Osram Bulb (Best brand imo) its £69.00/ D2S Bulb

But they do a pair of their own D2S bulbs for £70 - It does have good reviews on their website for them but never come across them myself

hids4u.co.uk do the bulbs also. OEM brands and their own

They are dead easy to swap over too - its shocking that VW would charge such an obscene figure for a 5 minute task

Crikey, they're cheap.  What are the 6000k ones like compared to the oem bulbs?

Good find

I have osram 6000k ones in mine

They are good, and give a really crisp modern look. My only criticism is that the light output is visibly reduced - almost to the point that, in my eyes, it makes sense to stick to either 4300k or 5000k if you want a slightly bluer look.

When im over my workshop next, im going to swap them back to see how much the light output differs.

Matsu - one thing you must bear in mind that can often happen is that cheap, poor quality bulbs will not produce a good beam pattern. It can affect the cutoff and can end up with a heavy concentration in parts of the beam instead of an even distribution of light

If you can afford it, get the phillips, GE or OSRAM D2S bulbs as you know the quality is pukka, plus they are warranted.

With regard to changing them, its as easy as...

Unscrew the big black cap on the back of the headlight
twist the ignitor (red thing) half a turn ish and pull it off - note there is a cable that will pop out at this point that youll need to reconnect later
twist the retainer ring on the back of the bulb housing and remove
remove the bulb
fit the new bulb
refit in reverse order ;)
