I Really love my GTI and spend every week cleaning it,and today in TWO different locations i have found dents in my car doors from other peoples arrogant
attitude and carelessness to other peoples vehicles.
I am very careful where i park and choose wisely where i park,and if i can get away with it, i park over two spaces at certain places.
And within a week (i know because i was my car weekly) TWO different people have smacked my car on either side with there doors.
One is a Dent and the other is a Dent with Paint scratch,i am so F**in sick to death of peoples attitudes towards other drivers cars and the way they open there doors
without a care in the world !
Im at the point right now where i wanna sell my GTI keep my £11 grand in my bank and buy a piece of crap that they can bash about all day.
I just don't see the point in keeping something so clean tidy and dent free and something i take great care looking after when this world is full of W***ers
God help the first person i catch opening a door into my car ! insurance wont be necessary, ambulance will ! :fighting:
sigh thats my rant over, will post some pics soon can anyone tell me if they have had dents removed and what sort of cost they are !

Feel for you buddy - its awful when that happens. A week after I had my old car resprayed some barstewards opened a car door onto it. He'd left before I got back though so I couldnt do jack on it apart from be incredibly angry!

I know exactly how you feel.
Every time I wash my car, I worry that I'll find something new. It's incredibly frustrating. I'm always careful but you can't control others. Most people don't give two hoots about their own car and even less about others' property.

Last week I was walking back to the missis's car and an old bint reversed out next to it and caught the car on the other side when turning, I stopped her and made her hand over her details. She was having a right old go at me. Just as she was handing over the details the woman arrived back to the car that had been hit (wasn't a looker if anyone asks :grin:) and went apesh!t. It was a 3 week old Astra diesel and the old woman who hit her car had an old red Micra with more dings on it than an orchestral triangle. The woman was very grateful, the old bint, not so....
Anyway I digress, it doesn't matter what car you get, you'll always have a55holes who don't give a cr4p. That's why I tend to use the missis's car when doing any carpark type shopping :evilgrin:

On a serious note I feel your pain, had this happen to my previous car. Although my old man would really feel your pain as his recently purchased Golf TDI's front near side wing was side swiped in a multi story car park a few weeks ago and will probably need a new wing. (Idiot drivers)

Gutted. I feel your pain mate.
I was in a car park last night which was quite empty however I watched a woman in a battered people carrier avoid all the wide open space an slot in between two parked cars :stupid:
When I bought my last S3 we stopped to get a drink after picking it up and some tw@t did the drivers door, I'd not owned for for as much as an hour.

I would be the same as you mate, well fooked off! Its always rich tw*ts in nice, poorly cared for big arse Beemers and Chelsea tractors that do it too IMO. They just don't care.
A few year back I nearly lost the plot after a series of similar incidents. Was sat in the garden one sunny day, enjoying a can of the finest Stella Actatwat when I watched some kid on his bike riding towards my car but looking backwards. But alas I noticed too late and he damaged the front wing. Day I collected it from the body shop someone opened a door into virtually the same place repeating the damage. One week later i woke up and my bumper was scuffed and then a few days after that some lard arse must have fallen into the side of the car and pushed the rear panel in about 4" or something daft.
In the end I sold the cursed Type-R!

I had just spent the weekend machine polishing my GTI. Then on the Monday I had parked in a Multi-storey on the 9th floor!! Practically no cars park there and I had parked tight to a kerb on one side. Didn't return to my car until about 6 hours later, to find a new merc c class reversed into my bumper. It didn't leave too much damage, but I was madly pissed off! I ripped their rear number plate off in frustration :ashamed: and left a nice wee message under their windscreen wiper! :evilgrin:
Kept their number plate :ashamed: so they hada fork out for another one! Only fair!

I had my car in for the MOT last week and had a spanking new Golf courtesy car, I was parked in a car park in tesco and this old creatan came to his car next to me (bearing in mind I was sat in the drivers seat) he opened his car door wider than he needed to and smacked the side of the car :scared:
I got out give him some verbal but I could see he just didn't give a flying f**k and he proceeded to drive off so I got the phone out and took a pic of his car reg and gave it to the VW dealer when I handed it back, if there was any future problems with the door then they can contact him :fighting:
Does my head in and I do feel for you mate, I try and park my golf so far out of the way from other cars and then I sit in it while the wife does her shopping.

I know how pissed off you are mate, :scared: i take care of my car always been careful where i park it never helps always get idiots who want to park next to you why :stupid:?? ive had to get chips away bloke out twice for dents in my door and wing costing £70 a time, only last summer spent all day cleaning my car 8 hours full valet, popped to post office must been in there 5 minutes some F*cking P*ick keyed my car from front to the back totally gutted you feel sick, managed get it machined out so not so visable but you can still see it, it would cost me hunderds get it sprayed so i just left it whats point??
Give chips away a ring thay have always done good job on mine :happy2:

It is bad when you park out of the way, and there is loads of room. And they still park next to you.

On the topic of trolleys, a woman was once talking to this other woman, let go of her trolley and it started rolling towards the side of my car (this is a full trolley aswell).
i dont think i have ever got out the car so quick in an attempt to stop it. Gave her a right mouthful for being so f*cking careless!

Why is it when ever you have nice clean car in mint condition every idiot his dad his brother and cousin wants to park next to you, give your car good bashing!!!! if driving a banger nobody comes near you??? dont get it! :surprised:

Be aware that parking over two bays can make you a target :confused: Or worse have someone try and squeeze into that gap you left!

A while ago someone reversed into the wife's cooper must have had a towbar on cracked the bumper and drove off. Then about a month later my gti was parked in the street and someone dropped a ladder and a pot of paint on the roof and did f@@k all about telling me!! On a positive note just as well cause I'd probably be in the nick now if I'd caught them. Some people don't give a sh*t but would do if it was their property. Just hope you get it sorted mate

That has to be the worst damage you get on a car i have some on mine i will be sorting when funds allow, why can't they be careful i am no matter what the car i am in, just common courtesy
you could always get a smart repair done, usually do a good job and relatively inexpensive

When i bought my vRS in 2007 i had only had it 2 days. Had parked in a multi-storey whilst shopping. Came back and some prick had opened their door into my rear passenger door leaving a nice vertical dent (admittedly you cant really see it unless it's polished) and some white paint. Obviously driven off and parked elsewhere but no details left. I drove round the car park for nearly 2 hours checking every single white car in there!
It annoys me how some people are so fcuking careless. :fighting: :fighting:
I might start carrying 4 traffic cones around with me to place on all sides of the car to stop muppets going near me :laugh:
Or even better this that activates when some tw@t opens the door into your car :grin:

Those are some bad dents! I really feel for you.
I found a door dent on a rear panel of my car a while ago. I was fuming as I'm very careful when parking. I park at the very end of car parks away from everyone else - And yet it still happened. My boyfriend paid to have it removed for me (better then flowers and chocolates in my eyes lol) I think it cost around £30. Is an amazing job. No matter what angle you look at it, you could never tell it was there. Very impressed.

Had a few of the above struggles with knobs who shouldn't be driving.
I now park miles away from the store and mostly across two spaces!!
and my GF knows she can't park it just anywhere.
If I am in public car park I park across two spaces and put two tickets on window with a note telling warden I have paid for both!! My mate who has range rover started me on this. It's been safer since!!

I've noticed (without being sexist) that many drivers (often female) choose to park between two vehicles or at least, next to another vehicle. I've come to the conclusion that less competent drivers don't like parking in open spaces as the can't tell if they are correctly in a space - they like to park between cars so they can use them as a reference to position themselves - needless to say, less copetent drivers have no / little interest in cars and no little / no respect for them either. I would much rather park next to an immaculate older car than in a space on it's own as my car will be used as a parking reference.
It's airbags on the outside I want! :grin:

It's so frustrating when this happens!
In the 2 years I had my golf - it's been keyed twice, reversed into and cracked the front bumper, 1 car park ding and a scuff on the rear bumper!
I honestly felt like the unluckiest person alive and it really made me feel the same as you. I think the majority of the incidents happened in my work car park too :fighting:!
Trying getting in touch with your local Paintless dent removal company and try and offer them cash in hand , should save a couple of quid!
When I get a new car I'll seriously be tempted on investing in a car CCTV system to catch these bellends in the act!

What ever happened to the days of leaving a contact number or note on your windscreen etc to sort it out at a later date.
Guess people just ain't as honest anymore or give a shizzle :sad1:

I'm so annoyed for you mate! I had three on my gti and used a company from Bristol called dentmagic. They are fantastic, no filling or respraying just work the dent out. Used them on a previous car and can't fault them. You wouldn't be able to tell you had a dent by the time they've finished. They can come to your home or place of work.

I feel for u dude, iv got 2 scratches on my passenger front wing I sore the kid do it so went n saw his parents who shrugged there shoulders n sed it's not there problem, if I wernt already on bail at the time I would hav bin getting arrested put it that way

Guys,
A word of advice to all of you who have had your car damaged in a multi-storey and had the offender drive off...they are usually all covered by cameras and you are entitled to request access to the recordings.
I used to work in insurance fraud and had the local council on speed dial just for this. Got so many people paid out by tracing who had damaged their car. These cameras are not perfect but often better than you think and good enough to make out a reg number.
bear in mind you need to be fast as a lot of this stuff is wiped after 30 days. If you find damage to your car ina council car park, get round to the town hall asap and register it with your insurance company so they can put in a reuqest too. Better still report it to plod as criminal damage, give them the time and place, and they have to investiagte it (might not want to though!). Also remind them of the deadline.
I know what it's like - someone kneed the entire drivers side of my car leaving 10 deep dents, just out of spite. Cost me a bit to get it fixed and couldn't do anything about it.
If enough people complain to the councils, they might have to make the spaces big enough for a normal car, not a 1960's Mini!

Try a dent specialist, they might be able to fix without filling. All careless people like this should be castrated!!!!!

Yes, that's the one mate. Dentmagic, I honestly think they are amazing! Used to have a focus ST which was also sorted by them. Wouldn't consider anyone else. :happy2:
