Title: Painting/Replacing Rear Brake Disc Guards
Post by: andrewparker on April 24, 2011, 08:33:00 pm
Hi guys, I've noticed that the rear brake disc guards on my car are getting quite badly chipped.

What is the best way to sort this out? Do you have to remove the calipers in order to remove the guards, or would it be best just to mask the discs and paint the guards while on the car?

TIA

I think you have to remove both the caliper and disc at the very least to get the stoneguard off so i'd go with masking and some black BBQ paint for a nice durable satin black finish  :happy2:

To be honest I'm not sure if they're chipped, but they have white marks on them, so not sure what it is. Either way they need attention!

Cheers for your help guys

The rear guard is fitted to the car prior to the hub flange/wheel bearing support being fitted.  see this post for more clarity.

The hubs do have to come off to get these off! If I was you, I would mask off and spray paint them once the disk and carrier are off. :happy2:
