Looking to get cruise control fitted to car, as once I'm back to full fitness well reasonable fitness, I'll be doing alot of motorway driving & cruise control is a must.
Looking through some threads, I see I can get it all done at a dealers for £130 ish?
or
Few people on here can do it for cheaper?
If the second option, could it even be possible to do at whilst at inters? ie any people that can do it going to inters?
Cheers MJR

Sorry to jump on the band wagon, but I am also looking to get this fitted. Looks like I can get a genuine stalk from ebay, is that my best bet?
Who could code close to Chemsford/Braintree?
Sorry for been cheeky?

You will need the stalk and possibly the control module too. if you have an 05/06 GTI I have one module for sale if interested.

Not a million miles away.... I can code it for you, although I'm not around much ATM. Drop me a PM.

Is there a fitting guide and coding guide anywhere?

My GTI is a "05" reg, so I'll need the stalk & a control module? These hard to fit?

Hi
You will probably need the wire too. If you do I have one
-
A couple of words of advice -
Some guides I have seen show taking apart the steering controller to remove it. This is absolutely not the way to do it!
Ignore eBay for the stalk and buy the retrofit kit from a VW dealer, it will have warranty and will include the additional wire that early cars need.
-
agree about the steering controler, why do they do that. It is easy to remove

Would it just be easier getting dealers to do it then?
-
it might well be easier, but then its going to cost you. If needs the wire they will add an extra £100 on top

I doubt mine will have the wire etc. So yeah will cost more :sad1:
Prolly be about £200 for dealers to do it?

Hi
it will be a stalk and the wire
-
This is something I might be interested in also, I do a fair bit of M'way driving so this would be a great help. Am in a 07 ED30, anyone know what I would need and how easy it would be? Anyone near the Edinburgh area who would be able to fit?
-
Hi
Golfman is near you, send him a pm
-
I priced up my local VW dealer a few weeks ago to get cruise fitted and iirc it was coming in at £65 for the stalk alone or £160ish if they fitted it
-
Well now got myself the cruise control stalk, what else do I need for my 05 reg GTI?
Also is there anyone going to Inters that would be able to fit it for me please with a cherry on top :happy2:

On an 05 you may need the wire to the bulkhead for the ECU.

Where would be the best place to get one of them? Stealers?
-
I don't know that you can buy it separately, that's why I always advocate buying the kit.
It may be worth a post in the wanted section as someone may have a spare.
