Hi ive not long bought an edition 30 i was thinking of fitting a milltek but i have mij and powerflow dealers local...i just wanted to know if anyone has a custom made exhaust fitted to the ed30 and if so whats the sound like and how many resonators did you have fitted etc..? cheers :driver:
-
I'll be going full powerflow shortly. I think another member gulfstream will be too.
Where are you from?
-
Wolverhampton mate, nice car by the way, what exhaust have you got on it now..?
-
A Powerflop exhaust will never match the quality of a properly designed exhaust from one of the major manufacturers. But there are some very capable exhaust builders out there that can do a great job. Crush bent pipes and mig welds are the usual methods used by powerflow.
-
Miltek arent exactly famed for build quality though. they just put big prices on it and get it to the market first so people flock to them.
Ive had piper and pipewerx exhausts and they have been top notch
-
A friend of ours had a Powerflow exhaust on his Octavia vRS.
To say it was loud actually does it a disservice. The silencers were way smaller than the OEM ones. :scared:
-
I've been to kingwinford tyres today who do powerflow exhausts, £250 for a custom cat back or £270 with a decat, after speaking to Jodie today at midland vw regarding my remap he said not to do a decat with out using a sports cat as it knackers the seals on the turbo which I don't want, so I'm going to give the powerflow a try, I'll let you know how I get on, and post up some vids of the sound.
-
post some pics of the exhaust as well, ask if you can see it before they drop it off the ramps. If they are using a mandrel bender and tig welder then it should be ok, if its mig with a compression bender then it wont be much better than stock as far as performance goes.
-
Ive been there today and had the cat removed to see what there work was like, and to be honest a young lad did it, it took him 10min and the quality of work is not want i want on my ed30, i was going to have the cat back fitted after but i think i am now deffo going to have to wait for the ££££ to buy a full milltek... :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
on the plus note for now, i do have a very very subtle nice cough on dsg gear change....

why miltek though? they cost more than al the othrs yet still have as much if not more issues as the others do. Id look into Blueflame and Pipewerx as the build quality is equal to Miltek yet they cost less

The only reason for milltek was because its the only exhaust i know thats been tried and tested and actually sounds nice, i would have another brand but its just knowing what there going to sound like, not after anything that sounds too boyracer, im going to have a look now, cheers
-
loads of guys on here with blueflame

Blue flame are non Res only, and quite loud..
If you want quieter, resonated, then look at other options.
-
or APR RSC like moi :innocent: :innocent:
-
im so looking foward to seeing your expression once your cars remapped at Inters... You exhaust sounds even more mental after a remap.. :happy2:
-
Where in Wolves you from mate?
I can get your Milltek at a good price... I'm in Willenhall
-
From penn I've pm,d u my number
-
Thanks mate, I'll find out some prices for you.
I've just got an Ed30 too! What colour is yours? You had it mapped yet?
-
Have got a small group buy running on some Blue Flame pipes.
they are not non res they have the twin silencer layout and trumps anything on the market as a performance option.

Its black 5 door, not had it mapped yet...Midland Vw have a good reputation but use custom codes for there remaps, i was going to take it there only in Cannock but people on here dont seem to think its a good idea.

My mrs had a cat back powerflow fitted to her car about 5 years ago, They made up the pipework then we went & listened to it & chose the volume & sound we wanted. They tried different cominations of silencers untill we were happy. It sounded good, was well put together & had a lifetime warranty. About 2 years later she hit it off a speedbump ( car was lowered ), took it back through & they sorted it for free as it had just pulled the join apart.
This was the Darlington branch. I must admit I have heard bad stories about them too though

If your looking for a mapper in Wolvo try P-Torque..
They have a very good rep for the 2.0TFSI over on SCN. I had his stage 1 and stage 2 on my old 1.8T Ibiza and now running his stage 1 on my ED30. Good solid 300-310bhp...
-
What mods have you got ..? and where abouts is it ....? cheers :happy2:
-
http://www.p-torque.co.uk/15.html (http://www.p-torque.co.uk/15.html) :happy2:
Just stage one mapping, intake and Forge DV.
The 2.0TFSI lads over on SCN running Will's (the guy that owns P-Torque) software always make 300-315bhp with no other mods.
Hi only charges circa £300-350 for mapping with before and after RR printout.
Drop him a line and say thet I recommended him to you  (Damien Egan)..
-
Cheers i will do buddy thanks.... do you know who they use for their maps..?
-
Will writes his own maps, has done for as long as I've been in the VAG scien.. He used to be a technician for Bosch building and repairing ECU's.
Very friendly and very helpful guy.
-
Brilliant just what im after :happy2:....will be booking it in Monday, ill let you know how i get on :driver:

I have an MV Sports full system. Very nicely mad, thats what the garage told me when they fitted it! Their customer service was EXCELLENT! i thought i had a rattle in it! turned out it was one of the one of the screws loose for the sensor and he was willing to replace it without batting an eye lid!
-
Hey cool -guess what I designed that system for Mike as well :happy2:

Really well its a good product!! and he is a top guy!!! Really helpful!!
-
Yeah he's old school like me
-
They do maps as well in the form of motec, not sure what their maps are like!
-
Knowing Mike - his maps will be excellent - and well within limits.
-
Well its his nephew tat does the maps!! they get about 330hp from S3 with their software and their TBE which is about right i guess!
-
Indeed.
Once we get to that sort of power which most coders seem to be capable of producing - it boils down to the power delivery especially on fast take off's
If a dealer is boasting big power, I would always like to think that he could stand behind hi product with a demo or access to a car with that sort of power for you to experience how linear the power delivery feels.
Cheers

If you still fancy a Powerflow exhaust I can recommend Unique Exhausts in Stafford. He did my exhaust backbox for my Scirocco, and over the last 10 years has done a stock replacement exhaust for my dad's car and an exhaust for me on one of my old cars and we've never had any problems with any of them. It's a one man band so you wont get the YTS lad who doesn't really know what he's doing like the other Powerflow place you mentioned either. The premises don't look much but he does a good job and well priced too - phone number is 01785331222.
There are some pics of mine at the end of my thread here:-

That BCS exhaust sounds fantastic, when I finally get around to getting a new exhaust I think that where I will be going

I did end up getting a cat back powerflow from a different dealer and took a chance.....I Asked for it not to be loud but a nice tone under gas....he fitted two of the smallest silencers he had, it sounded farty and like it was blowing.
I Went back yesterday and had a larger silencer fitted and to be honest sound loads better....a little throaty on tick over and lower revs but not loud and droney like it was before, and a really nice not too loud jet sound on full chat, also had Will map it at p torque made 314bhp :happy2:
-
Glad you got it sorted. I part time at the Powerflow in Telford. You get what you pay for IMO. Ive got a full 3" from the turbo. With mandrel bends and true 3" boxes. All tig welded. Some people just dont want to part with cash, like people have sed it's over a grand for a miltek, you could get a real quality system for that price at a decent Powerflow dealer. Come see us.
Think I will have to pay this Will a visit for a remap.

Sounds good.... How much would a down pipe cost me to go to my power flow rear....?
And yes Wills remaps are very good :happy2:
