Post by: Jk911 on June 16, 2011, 06:37:19 pm
Have been offered an s3 intercooler, I'm running stage 2 at the moment and want to go stage2+ in the very near future, what other parts do I need ( hoses etc) I know I need the hpfp but not 100% sure what parts to fit the intercooler?

it should be an easy straight swap as long as the cooler come with the end hoses. sits in exactly the same place as ur oem one.  :happy2:

The hoses for the S3 IC don't have metal couplers like the standard gti ones.
That being said, if you are careful with a dremel you can remove the couplers from the original hoses  (leaving the underlying hose intact) and have perfect fitting hoses for the IC. You will need a couple of jubilee clamps to fasten the hoses to the IC inlets.

Important Note for K03 Turbo owners looking to perform the S3 upgrade:
The OEM Turbo discharge transfer pipe part number 1K0 145 840 Q - does Not work with the Audi S3 Intercooler upgrade as the Intercooler entry side turbo hose has a different orientation of locking keyway.
This 'non working' transfer pipe is 'generally' fitted to (and therfore effects) later cars, typically MY 2006 onwards. However an actual inspection of the pipework type fitted to your car is always recomended as it is not easy to state what models have the 'Transfer Pipe that works' fitted by chassis look up.
See the images below for infomation on what you are looking to identify for whether you have the correct pipe already fitted to your engine.

I just hacksawed the metal coupler down one edge and put it in a vice to crush it to get the remainder off, It leaves all the rubber hose intact and takes about 2 mins a hose. You will need to trim a little off the passenger side hose but the drivers side fits perfect. There really is no need to fork out for the S3 hoses unless you plan to put the original back on at a later date.

Why the sadness, your car should be ok as it's earlier than MY06.

I'm getting the s3 hoses free, is there a way of checking my turbo discharge pipe without removing the intercooler, is there a part number? My car is 55 plate?

Also got ko4 turbo on it's way, what else would I need for the conversion apart from injectors? Sorry for all the questions but I crave power  :signLOL:

You'll need a dv relocator kit plus some minor parts for fitting.
