Title: gti inters
Post by: jhono on June 22, 2011, 08:37:42 pm
has gti international had its day,i have been going for the last 10 years and every year it seems worse, year befor last heavy rain at bruntingthorpe caused loads of probs, namely the food sellers on the grass,1 ruined pair of trainers and 6 fekin quid for a bacon bagette and feeling pissed off comes to mind,so looking forward to this year will i be dissapointed :scared:

....Don't worry, mate - It's a valid point of view, probably not popular but who cares.

For different reasons from yours I tend to agree. It needs something fresh and bleak Bruntingthorpe isn't a great venue imo anyway. For a start it's not very international - A very wasted opportunity. I only went last year out of loyalty to BIALI and I'm not going this year.

Any special event is going to have expensive food. It's how they make their money!!!

Events like this do tend to get a bit samey but it's still an excuse to go out and perve at VAG babes cars

The food issue is the same at all events,as already said take your own food

The show is what you make it! If you go with a cracking forum like this with like minded and interesting individuals then I fail to see what's not to enjoy???

The fact there is all sorts of other stuff to watch and do is just a bonus IMO........

The weather does play a big part, last year (think it was last year) was great on the Sunday and I they ostritch burgers were lovely - dont remember them being that expensive, some things were though.

It not too much of a trip for me which helps.

Purely about catching up with a load of mates and having a good time. The rest of the day is a bonus.

The drive to the event is great fun aswell.

can't remember getting wet over the past few years but remember getting Wind Burn a couple years back :signLOL:

the gathering of like minded enthusiasts is more of the reason for me attending rather then what's on show like has been said already.

fair and valid points from every one ,cheese sarnies it is then, how ever i do think a rebrand is in order,ie drop the international, because a scirocco from holland up the quater mile hardley makes it so :laugh:and i havnt said i dont like it,just once or twice over the years i have not enjoyed it as much as some other vw shows,,,they are a great place to meet up with other like minded people and to admire in the flesh other peoples hard work on there cars

Go for it, only way you get to know people is by going to the shows, this one has one of the best turnouts for MK5 forum members, and it is always nice to have a chat about the cars with people.
Spent about 3 hours on Sunday speaking to different people at DC.
Take a mate, or your missus and you are sorted.

See you there :happy2:

This is what I mean, when I started TwingoOC knew nobody went to/organized one show and then was much better putting names to faces etc. So tempting!

MIGHT come for one day? Saturday or Sunday the best?

So you won't be the only jerk there anyway

I dont know anyone either , and Im driving 4.5 hrs each way to be on the club stand in my bog standard GTI! I've done shows before in my Evo , Beetles and Capris , and displayed all my cars on the various club stands , so I know what the score is , never been to Inters though - the nearest thing to it that Ive been to would be JAE @ Billing Aquadrome , with the MLR.

It my first as well (on Saturday) but going with good mates Darren (Mortygttdi) and Scott (Golfman) along with our other halfs.

I know that Lee (Apollo 13) will be there and we've never met, so as said, if nothing else it's great to actually meet up in person. Hope to be putting a lot more names to faces as well.

The friendliness of this forum is one reason why I'm still here even they I sold the Golf 3 months ago !

Go on, do it.... You know you want to.
