Well for me the Mk5 looks nicer especially from the rear!

I think the MK5 front is much better looking than the MK6. Love the honeycomb grill :happy2:

Mk5 all the way I'm not to keen on the mk5.5 only if it's the R

Don't really see the point of asking this question on a MK5 site.  Hardly subjective.  like asking a chap who married a Blonde Millionairess, whether he liked Blonde Millionairesses or Brunettes!

If they were same price i would have the MK6 over its looks but when it came to the decision to but a 2007 ED30 for £14000 with 16000 miles or the 2009 MK6 gti with 18000miles for £21500 then there was no difficulty in buying the ED30 .

Are we talking in bog standard factory form - if so then it has to be the mk6.  Remember the standard mk5 GTI came with half colour coded bumpers, plastic skirts etc ....

I think the ED30 is better looking than the MK6 as colour coded.

The rear lights on the MK6 are horrendous imo and grille at front not as nice either.

The MK6 Gti is a slight improvement over the Mk5 as an all rounder and the interior is better. Ultimate MK 5 = Edition 30 with DSG ( I have a manual and now wish had DSG) ultimate MK 6 - R with DSG.
