Hi Guys,
Been lurking around here for a while now. Great site.
I'll throw some pictures of the car up later on.
Anyhow my problem..
My engine in my Mk5 Gti kicked the bucket last week. Is it much hassle to drop an S3/Edition 30 engine in??.
Thanks in advance,
Donal

I don't think it would be a huge issue to go for the higher powered engine. There was a brand new BWA engine in here for ages that might have been useful, i'm not sure it was ever sold.
-
Ko4s for sale on here all the time too
-
Thanks guys.
I think I'd bite the bullet and go for the stronger engine if its just a straight drop in and drive.
-
You'll obviously need the ECU or at least the software for it.
-
Aye Stu.
Presumably ECU needs to be coded/immobilised to the car??.
-
there is a guy on Briskoda Harry_VRS i think his username is, he put in the stronger K04'd engine from an S3 into his VRS (GTI engine) perhaps you could ask him?
-
Do you know what happend to your engine?
-
@daz_pd: Thanks man, I'll have a look.
@Martinziuk: Lost oil pressure and discovered a load of metal filings in the sump.
Currently being stripped to find the cause.

Joesgti also put an ed 30 engine in his old golf when his k03 turbo failed.
-
I don't think rubbertoe ever sold his new bwa gti engine so that's also another alternative.

Cheers man.
I'm really considering that.
Was just a thought that while I was changing it anyway I'd upgrade it!!.
