There are plenty of cars out there. My opinion is unless the seller fixes all this in advance, I'd tell him to keep his car & look elsewhere.

For fitting new clocks, read this thread http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18021.0.html

In depends upon the age of the car as to whether it is expensive, or even possible. It shouldn't be an obstacle with an earlier vehicle.

I'd advise you get a member with VCDS to scan your prospective purchase for error codes. depending on where you are, ask a member who's close to you to come along & scan the car (with the owner's permission, of course).  http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html

Without a proper explanation of the fault Id stay clear.

Also as said above, taking someone with VCDS to scan for faults will be very useful.  Helps make sure you dont buy a dog with some nasty suprises and can bring up some 'easy fix' faults that work in your favour as a bargaining chip

There are plenty of decent well looked after MK5 GTI's in are For sale section on this board.

If its to good to be true,or they make you think your getting a steal, sometimes that can U turn on you
and you end up with a donkey of a car.
Just buy one without faults  :happy2:
