Just been sticking some new wheel nut covers on my wifes MK6 GTD and spotted this on one alloy.
Is this the start of the dreaded white worm?

being a bit new to the MK5, having had other Golfs in the past...what is the cause of the wheel issue? and the remedy?

it's a form of corrosion.
