hello people, i have recently noticed my mk5 gti is not moving like it normally does, what i seem to have discovered is that when i put my foot down there is a prolonged hissing noise? normally when i release the pedal there would be a short hiss which is to do with the turbo which is normal but in this case now, as soon as i put my foot down it starts and does not stop untill i release........
anybody got any idea of what this could be ?

Could be the DV mate.
Mine was doing something similar - perhaps not as bad - and the problem was a split diagphram on the divertor valve, a lot of people have upgraded to the rev 'd' which is a piston type so far superior......

It's around £40ish for the latest D version and you can fit it yourself (easier if you have an ed 30).
-
I paid around £55 inc VAT a few months back.
-
where did you buy it from mate ?

deaerships or tuners etc http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/tfsidiverters.htm (http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/tfsidiverters.htm)£45+ VAT @ JKM

So the diverter will almost definitely need Changed on all mk5 GTIs?
-
If it has the old diagphram type then I would change it anyway (which I think mkV's do), the new rev 'D' type is pretty much indestructable. :happy2:
-
I had the old diaphram one on my Ed30. There was nothing wrong with it but i changed it for the D revision one as a matter of course.
10 min job on the Ed30. Slightly more difficult on the standard GTi.

Mine had a massive gash in the side. Made a big difference changing it for the D version

^^ OEM part from dealer 40ish plus VAT, IIRC.
Part number 06H 145 710 D, although I was told at the dealer 06H 147 710 G was a piston-type valve too. :happy2:

I think rev 'G' is the latest, no different to the rev 'D' AFAIK.
