Title: LED Sidelights fitted
Post by: golf nutter on August 28, 2011, 04:44:48 pm
obviously a night shot would be better...might add one later.  so after several more hours cleaning the car i have fitted some LED sidelights and some Nightbreaker Plus dipped beams...all ready for the rubbish Autumn and Winter weather.  Easy to do, but the offside sidelight was a pig...moved the black canister thing (dont know what it is!!!) out of the way and used some pliers to get in there...didnt want to pull out by the wires.  anyway, no error codes thrown up, so quite pleased really.  Liking the look with the yellow fogs.

Sorry to say mate, I'm not keen as they seem a bit blue.  I went through 3 different sets on the vRS until I got a white that was truely 5000k, matches the HIDs perfectly.

Can you put some pictures up of the sidelights on when it gets dark?

At a guess I would say 6000 - 7000K, some sellers do list the colour temperature, although they are not always accurate.  The first set I had were apparently 6000k but compared to the below picture I would put them at 8000k +

Loving the yellow lamin-X though buddy.  :happy2:

i would agree on the colour temperature you suggested...probably 7k.  the pictures below dont really show a great deal other than plenty of lens flare.  The light on the drive maybe gives some indication though.

Got a link of the 5k ones you liked?

These are the ones I have fitted in the Golf - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320665464032 - they are a nice white, the only criticism is I had to cut a sliver off either side to make them fit.

something i noticed today is that when the ignition is turned on they LED's flash 3 times and then go off unless you switch to sidelights...weird?

Thats because of the residual charge I think......
