Do you have to be a paid developer to get access to these beta updates?

Direct access yes or if you know someone with developer access and they register your device then you you can apply the updates on yours.

word of warning, I had to restore my iPhone with the iMac today after it gave me the "connect to iTunes" screen after installing iOS5 B7. This was installed in a iPhone 3gs iOS5 B6.

My iPad worked fine and was able to restore from iCloud no problem. My other iPhone, which is an iPhone 4 worked fine.

I don't know what happened, but after googling, it seems plenty of people needed to restore with a PC/mac after the installation.

So basically what I'm saying is, its nothing major unless your away from a computer.

Just done mine and it's now asking for iTunes so I'm having to D/Load the IPSW.

I'm assuming I can manually restore with Beta 5.7 as I tunes was looking for a much older IPSW.

I downloaded the beta 7 itunes and restore the ipsw from that - basically as it was locked out did it manually.

Yeh just manually restore and all will be well ;)

Having said that, I've just noticed my photo collection only goes up to may 2011 althought my phone backs up to the cloud every day. The restore went ok too. barstewards!! Lost loads of photos from morocco last week :(

I wonder when the official release will be?

I have 30 iPad 2's here and refuse to do anything until iOS 5 comes out only for iCloud! No point in me buying an app on 1 then needing to buy it for another 29 whilst with iCloud I get the joy of it going on all the devices (or this is how I see it works?) just needs to hurry up out!

I had no problems.

I updated both iPhone & iPad OTA and the only thing i had to do was re-sync with iTunes to get my photo's back as iCloud will only sync the last 30 days worth.

I'm noticing less screen freezes than Beta 6. Had one or two but otherwise it has been fine. Tinterweb performace is a lot better now
