Crikey! I didn't think I was going to like this but everything works really well together and the lowered stance makes a huge difference. Proppa limo!  :happy2:

Be careful not to over do it - It's very subtle. Mods like brakes and ARB's would be a good idea now <-- Definitely if you remap.

I've got those exact same lights!

seeing as you brought them recently, could you tell me what the method of securing the bulb to the headlight is? is it still that gay twisty mechanism or is it a springy clip? (HID kits drop in very very well into those projectors!)

nice tidy motor fella!

Because on venom website under mk5 golf coilovers it lists some as having the shocker with the bore size of 50mm and some with bore size of 55mm? Im guessing with it being a TDI its going to have the fatter shockers to handle the weight

Post by: OLLIE_JETTA_MK5 on September 25, 2011, 09:31:38 am
so then as you all know , its the little things that you do to your cars that your most proud of " attention to detail " so with the new wheels goin on i wanted to tidy up behind and paint the calipers ( without the standard red , blue , yellow etc ) i also painted the hubs and brake sheilds matt black as they go  a horrible rusty colour after a while

so then i started off with this ...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2F24092011159.jpg&hash=8fcca65b9c8ff2cb88fc1189b83b24a571b4f32f)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2F24092011158.jpg&hash=dd68dc601f98a500f48ddbe69097fdbcc5729e99)

and some pots of this ...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2F24092011160.jpg&hash=182487e4ef51b53d9b1bc74eabda3120f71a68d5)

and being the clever lad i am i made this (close to body colour as poss)....

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2F24092011161.jpg&hash=3b18fef715effe5d212bdee6ff4ba3f441be11b1)

so i painted the calipers and everything else and ended up with this

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2F24092011162.jpg&hash=bbcc60e1e20845f0c14d3ef0349152f7ed677ada)

took hours for a very subtle mod that you can barely see but atleast through them shiny new rims its all tidy behind :)

enjoy

Very tempted to do something similar to mine..... looks the biz I must say.

Did the Coupe with Ford Stardust Silver and it was a match to the OEM silver used on the interior.....so i went a little mad. The black is very nice tho

Loving the new wheels! How are you managing without the open / close vent signs on your re-painted interior bits? I would love to do mine like yours but would miss the little images to say if they are open or closed!

as promised , here is the events i went through today :S so scary cutting a bumper when you dont have a spare etc and we all know how expensive gti and jetta bumpers are ....

so i started off like this ...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0255.jpg&hash=5c8d0bb56f0fb7da7c573a6dac29dd7cbaaa8715)

brought a new foam instert as mine was a bit worse for ware

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0260.jpg&hash=ed57b051c5aa144681b58c3817113a7293aa7be2)

fitted

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0261.jpg&hash=e1825d93eb8739066592b75fd9ad50e1d5ab1734)

i then gave the new headlights a wet sand and a mop as they had some storage marks etc

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0263.jpg&hash=22aac05dfaa54afed3b0386d1152570dd95c743e)

and fitted

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0262.jpg&hash=aed6eda4a302da2b51d45fd5ba7071a6d13b9ad5)

I then began to mask up and draw up the bumper ...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0256.jpg&hash=93948ef465644dade26cf250c1ba7afa7205ac47)

took a while to get them perfect but got them in

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMAG0258.jpg&hash=a845620c545271999db468b107f429e3b403c066)

used some "Sticks Like S**T" and bonded them on

and then the finished result :)

will take better pics with a camera tomorrow but just phone for now ...

Love the total look with the lights etc but i am personally not a fan of the side markers but its just because i liked it smoother. Looking good though mate the wheels still look awesome.

I can highly recommend the TFSi Ollie. Only had my car a few weeks now and absolutely loving the smoothness an quietness of it. Also more than enough power should the need arise. It's a real Jekyll and Hyde kind of car. The DSG rocks and now that I have the MFSW and paddles on it's even better. There are a few knocking about, and they cheaper to buy than a GTi or Jetta TDi. I like the fact they not a dime a dozen on the roads either.

A few of my words got changed in that. Bloody I phone, I prefer no badge but if it's oem+ you want then keep the badge lol. I k ow what you mean I take ages to pick wheels then get bored, I usually end up loosing money though lol.

Prefer it with the chrome on the front, and with the sidemarkers too, looks ace.
Though I have never been a fan of debadging unless you are going for a really smooth front.

Think I may go for sidemarkers too at some point, just getting around to it, and sorting the wiring for them.
