Title: Loose Diverter Valve? NOW SCANNED - N75 Valve!?!
Post by: E30Dom on September 19, 2011, 08:32:39 pm
OK, just got back from France co-driving a mental Citroen AX GT 1.6Turbo(185bhp as it's being run in, will be 300+bhp), but had to drive down to my mates...

On the way down, circa 3am, nice cold air, open clear roads, I cained it out of a round about... it rev'd and went well as ususal but there was a slight hesitation at circa 5k rpm? Thought nothing of it and it also flew home on the return journey... On the way home tonight I pulled out of a junction and pulled away quickly to find it stuttered a bit and wouldn't pull smoothly and felt a bit weak... so all the way home I was trying to put it under the same load, and higher rev range under load it would feel like it was fluttering...

Car is a '07 Edition 30 with Stage 1 remap... I had a check tonight, and can't see anything obvious, no warning lights, no fluids, no starnge noises, maybe some fluttering noise... I did however check the Rev D Diverter Valve I installed earlier this year and the three torx bolts each needed 1/8-1/4 turn to tighten back up... could this be what was causing it?

I did drive it up the road and back and did feel better but could just be placebo...

Hoping APD could fit me in fordiagnostic work, if it's the same to work tomorrow, unless there's anyone else around Shaftesbury/poole who could help?

Cheers,

Dom

Well, it's still doing it... :scared:

Just feels like it's fluttering in the upper rev range under load... like it's missing, so hoping it's just a coilpack or spark plug, but have AlexPerkins checking her over tonight... praying it's something simple...

Fluttering noise on full boost could be the wastegate. Same happens on mine.

Have you taken off the DV and refitted it correctly... and its still making the noise?

Well it's down to a faulty N75 valve... just waiting to hear back on part price and labour...

Anyone had this done?

The N75 valve is in an awkward spot for access.
IMO could be 1-2 hours labour to replace it.

N75 is easy to access from under the car. No more than 1 hour to do.

I have exactly the same symptoms on mine. Just changed 3 of the 4 coilpacks today (as TPS only had 3 instock) and will be changing 4th within the next few days. Now my mate who is an audi master technician scanned it and there were no misfires reported on the laptop when we took it out for a spin.

How did you know it was the N75 valve mate?

It's an 07 edition 30 with 32K on the clock. I got the car in May and haven't changed the plugs myself and looking back at the service book there are no ticks next to the plugs so I assume they haven't been changed.

Mines 40kand had plugs at last service... APD performance, who did my map ran some logs while I drove it to replicate probs... Looking at data the N75 table was obviously adjusting, then would go to 0 for a bit, then adjust to compensate, then go to 0 again, etc. giving the fluttering I'd experienced...

So does 0 mean the wastegate was opening fully? Hence to dodgy runing?

I'm not totally sure, it just wasn't behaving as they would have expected...

Odd because mine makes a noise but it still pulls fine. These cars seem to be very sensitive.

It's not just a a noise though, you can feel it through the pull of the car through the revs, it's on/off/on/off/on as it's trying to sort out the boost...

Rich. The noise you hear is normal and is boost modulation via the N249 (DV)

The N75 is the wastegate so it would have an effect as E30Dom had.
