Title: 140 TDI won't start?

Hi guys!

My mates Audi A3 140 tdi  has Just packed in! He says he was driving along and it cut out and now won't start again.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Any help would be appreciated!

It's an 04 plate with approx 80k.

Any symptoms before it cut out? I take it it's cranking ok when you turn the key?

It does still crank as normal and It was making a funny sound when not accelerating, like a weird rattling noise for a few days. I'm thinking it could be a turbo issue?

was it juddering? 

Perhaps injector loom?

Was thinking something like that myself. Does it smoke when you turn it over?

It takes a longer than normal to start and it judders a bit when idling.

There is White smoke when revving also!

defo turbo gone :confused: by the way ****DO NOT START IT UP AGAIN**** the blades of the turbo or any debris could get back into the engine and cause further damage.
