Title: Rev D Diverter Valve - This right?
Post by: E30Dom on October 04, 2011, 10:32:41 am
Taking from the post where I posted...

I'm currently having boost issues where in higher gears under load on boost i'm getting a fluttering/pulsing/stuttering in the boost pattern...

I've had the n75 changed but it's still doing it so have ruled that out... I thought I'd check the RevD DV which I fitted after the Revo Stg1 remap...

Can anyone tell me if this looks right? The last section of travel is a bit sticky...

Appreciate any comments... Car is back in Thursday to be datalogged and hopefully pin point the problem...

Has it just started doing this or was it evident when the stage 1 map was loaded?  It could be a handful of things so you are doing right by getting it datalogged as that will show what the car is doing under load.

No it's been running sweet as for past 5 months, even made 288bhp on JKM's rollers with just the map... Just suddenly started doing it... garage who mapped and looks after my car datalogged it initially in my lnch break and thought it was the N75 valve so swapped it over but it's still doing it... They said it's normally the N75 or the DV, but will see what they say...

...Was just unsure of the action of this DV.

Its hard to tell really without a side by side comparison with another DV.  There have been very few reported problems with this tye of DV. It could be you have a small leak in a vac pipe or something as simple as that.  Hopefully datalogging and a bit of investigation from your tuner will see you right :happy2:

Yeah I've been reading lots of different sites with similar issues and a leak the vacumn side is defiantely a possibility...

They also have an EVAP smoke pressure tester so will that test everywhere?

A leak test done properly will pressure up the vac and turbo hoses and should reveal a leak if one is present.  But it could be hardware related like a faulty MAF sensor or air pressure sensor etc or even a leaky boost hose connector.  If it is sensor related etc hopefully there will be a fault code stored if the engine is running out of normal range and point you in the right direction.

That's the thing, no fault codes have registered... which is really odd. Would assume if it was a sensor then it would throw a code...

.... just want it sorted as have my Pipewerx DP sitting here ready to go on ;)

Wooohhhooooooo! :jumpmove:

The car is fixed, it wasn;t a boos issue, it was the sparkplugs! So guessing Breeze VW didn't change them when they did the 40k service like they were supposed to! Back to FULL power now...

Have booked it in for stage 2 next Friday!

Well pleased to have my car back! Thank you APD Performance!!  :congrats:

I'm stunned how many coil and spark plug issues these cars have.

At the moment I have a stutter once in a while usually in 4th gear if i ease off at low revs and then plant the accelerator.  Like a thump in the back.  Coils changed a year ago, been 2.5 years since the plugs.

I have some NGK PFR7S8EG plugs ready to fit the weekend, fingers crossed it fixes it :happy2:
