the burble is   :jumping: :jumpmove:
-
Very nice indeed!!!! I was looking at these very recently ;)
-
Needs a wee tap (a.k.a BASH) with a lowering stick but what a machine. Friend of mine has a Blue one with a PumaSpeed exhaust on. As you said the exhaust burble and back-fire is :notworthy:  :jumping:
How you finding the seats? Managed to set them up to your liking yet? What's the torque steer like?
-
NICE!
What's happened to the Eddy? You still got it?
-
Get a test drive mate, massive smile factor, ive had porkers and m3s and never had a single comment about them, ive had this 2 days and had a complete stranger come up to me and start a coversation about it, my dad even went on autotrader to see if could get a decent one for under 20k
-
Very nice indeed!!!! I was looking at these very recently ;)
X2 contemplated sellin my eddy 2get 1 in white
im gona try test drive 1 i think
oh yh looks awesome dude i like the lairyness of the green
-
Just walked straight in to seats never even adjusted them, very comfortable. Yea it will be down on ohlins soon enough, torque steer is there its not all torque steer though, i think some people think its all torque steer as opposed to diff tug but its more noticable than the golf
Eddys away ! :sad1: i went for it just now as the ford is something i dont really want to own second hand tbh so it was now or never for frs ownership ! Its a shame because the eddy is a brilliant car and i would of kept it for ages ive got rakes of spanking new stuff for the eddy in the hut that ill need to sell top
-
ive had porkers and m3s and never had a single comment about them, ive had this 2 days and had a complete stranger come up to me and start a coversation about it
But in fairness, I bet the porsche's or the M3's weren't illuminous green? - that's a fair talking point in itself.
2000 miles to run it in, surely you mean 200. Modern engines don't need running in any more, just the brakes.
Enjoy
-
My local dealer has a white one for £19995, that's under 20 grand. Just!
-
:congrats:
lovelly car
-
Local dealer has a one in green at £21000 looks awesome and its a 10 plate
-
You traitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :surprised: Cooler, intake and map?? They have serious lbsft, my mate has the 400bhp package what a monster it is once its rolling, i think it would hump my s3 from 50mph. Stevie.
-
I love these but i would be killed for the look of it by my misses!!! Hows this compare to the eddy speed wish?
-

mapped Ed30 would edge it, but map that 2.5 litre and you will find it hard to catch..
-
I cant not love these!!!! I wanna drive one!!

Just go and get the finance out just now ! There is no way you can look at and drive one of these without buying one! The force is strong in this one!

Yea probably right about the colour, running in is 1500 but i want to give it an extra few hundered to be on the safe side
-
I do like these a lot, I'd love to have one for 6 months over summer.
I'd also love to build a track car out of a MKI FRS - but I think I'd probably get my throat slit by the Ford weirdos.
-
Yea stevie thats the plan jam sport 400 package with monster torque !
As you said they are not the best off the line due to the torque limiter but once up and dancing they are fecking proper quick ( with 400 bhp) the 1/4 mile trap speeds are pretty mental like propper mental ! Mind you you should still see 60 in the 4s with stage 2 + type mods but the torque these things produce make everything seem faster
Ive been out in a few quick ones and test drove a few prior to buying mine, mine has not been above 4k though due to the running in process but compared to the gti the feeling of the car dynmics wise is pretty far in front even my modded gti didnt feel like this does standard, handeling wise anyway.
Its a great package, defintootly makes the driver feel like they are driving something special !
-
nice motor mate, i could be bias though :signLOL: are you over on Focusrcoc.com?
-
You can now get a 4 wheel drive option using the kuga rear axle, its incredibly pricey though, £10k - £15k!
-
Splended. :notworthy: best colour too. :happy2:
-

How can that be a bad thing? Especially compared to this:

-
Running in for 2000 miles and not above 4k? Do Fords not get the sh*t ragged out of them before you pick them up anyways? :P
No need to run an engine in like that. Does way more harm than good and you can't run an engine in on fully synthetic.
I love the rs. Fully tuned one at the start of the year for a customer. 380 bhp, clubsports, ap brakes and fully stripped. Handled way better than any well setup golf, Leon I've ever driven.
-
At the Honda factory in Swindon they have a test track right outside and all the Civics get ragged silly round it straight off the production line. I'd bet a similar thing happens at Saarlouis!
-
a customer of mine has a white one,he is changing tyres on it every 5000 mile but he drives it like a idiot :stupid:
Very nice car are you going down the montune route if you start modding it to keep the warranty
-
Love the RS, was my favourite hot hatch bar none
Then I test drove the meganne RS :scared: :scared: :driver: the FRS makes vags efforts seem numb, but that meganne is in another league. I dread to think how good they would be with a remap
-
I've driven a 250 with Cup chassis. The drive was so sharp compared to my Golf, like comparing a scalpel to an axe, but the Megane'd only just come out when I drove it and the dealer wanted a hugely unfunny 26 grand for it! :surprised:
-
Very nice. I went out in a friends one. Back to back with his boxster spider and there was little between the two on the same route we took. The focus is a lovely car.
-

Yea i am mate, ive been on there for a year now researching and stuff but just took the plunge on saturday

Im Not sure TBH, I was thinking of going down the montune route for now then the 400bhp pack once the warranty is out, but i might just see if i can wait a couple of years and straight in to the JS 400 Performance pack, TBH im pretty happy with the performance as standard so ive not got as itchy feet tune wise as with other cars.
-
Very nice Bry!
-
The intake on this engine is a nightmare as soon as you turn up the boost it collapses, not sure if ford have modded it in any way but i couldnt believe what i was looking at when i was out in my mates, completely kills the car, sooked closed. Get it revo'd matey! Stevie.
-
Hmm...
I'm not feeling the love for this car. I was lent one for most of a day but gave it back after less than an hour - I don't want to piss on anyone's parade so I'll keep THE DETAILS of my opinions to myself. Each to their own, so enjoy! :happy2:

Yea the plenums explode ! And intake pipes collapse, im not to bothered because im under warranty but if i do choose to modifiy before the warranty is out the first things that will be getting fitted is a modified snow shield intake pipe and montune plenum !
-
I do like these. There is a Green one at work, with an ASBO reg. It makes a nice burble. Enjoy it. :happy2:
-
How is the revo software on these. There was an article a few months back in re line iirc, they seemed to think it was ok. Me personally id be sticking with the proven ford tuners though

Its basically the same ecu as most of the golfs so easy to tune if you have the know how. I personally trust revo 100% along with a few other tuners around.
I found a few pics of the one I did a while back:

Nice choice mate :happy2: Always had a soft spot for these tbh and nearly went for one. Just no good for my job (too in your face with how I would have one) and they like to drink far to much :rolleye:. Found that the tyres can be chewed up far too quickly if you like to :driver: :surprised:
Also from my experience they need to be waaaaay over 400bhp to compete with a Stage 2+ DSG Eddie and if that was the case, I would need a fuel tanker to be in tow for my job (bigger injectors etc). Not to mention the cost in getting it there.. :surprised:
That doesn't take away how good they are when behind the wheel though and after driving both a stock car and one in RS500 guise I did have a big smile on my face. Just had to go with my head in the end..
Oh and stop being a fanny wth this 2k running in lark.. :booty: :signLOL:
-
I dont know like ? A well set up 400 bhp pack gets some good runs in the 12s and traps at high 120s, granted these are not 1/4 mile cars but from a rolling start there is not much can touch them, i seen one with the 400 bhp pack that a guy logged against his 911 turbo and i was shocked at some of the in gear times.
Ill need to get it sorted and proove it against 2+ k04 car though. I dont think there will be much in it though, unless we can do a second gear rolling start !
One of the car mags put a modified cupra [2+] against a standard frs and the cupra beat it everywhere in the acceleration tests although the frs was still 1 second a lap quicker round a track, i actually seen that topic discussed on here aswell
Yea got to say fuel is a killer ill just need to cycle to work 3 days a week to offset the cost !

Have you proof of this mate???? :surprised: I know of a Jamsport 500+ one that has cracked around 118-119mph terminals, but nothing in the 120's @ a proper 1/4 mile track (ie Pod).. Especially at 400bhp, just not possible in a 1500kg car IMO.. High 120's would take 600bhp+ IMO..
The 400bhp one that showed up at the 30-130mph day in March was nothing short of a let down tbh. But it was that bad that either he couldn't drive or it was nowhere near 400bhp, so I reserved judgement..
On the 1/4 mile there's not been many that have run 12's from what I have seen and the ones that have were Jamsport monsters with 450+bhp, cut slicks, LC and god knows how much money thrown at them.. I remember running mine against a JWR400 UG RS at Pod in March. I fooked the start and he was off and I thought "no chance now"... To my surprise, I caught and passed him with ease and he only run a 108mph terminal
I'm not saying that they're not capable cars when they have all the bits on them. But you need to spend big bucks and have shares in Shell :signLOL:
The mag test you mentioned was Evo mag and was Revo's K1. Yes it mothered the stock RS in all performance tests, but so it should to be honest (should have tested it again against a Mountuned one at least). Round a track the RS is leagues ahead, no contest. Didn't help that the K1 had no LSD though.. :driver:
Seem to remember the R26R taking the piss out them both round Cadwell though..
-
Quickest i have seen was a 13.0 with the 440 package....well it had 440 stickers lol. I will ask my mate if he can remember his terminal speed. Good test in redline this month with all the mk2 rs coolers you should get it, massive difference between them. The test car had the mountune intake and a map and put out 294bhp, tuner and owner were seriously shocked! Stevie.
-
Nice car mate :happy2:
Had a white one drive past as i was going out earlier. The noise was epic. Clearly an aftermarket exhaust and he was giving it some. The pops on the over run really made it sound like a rally weapon
-
Yea im talking pish it was 116mph 12.9 sec 400 bhp package, sounds good enough to me though ! although its got the fuel pump add on which a few tuners have just added on to the 400 packs with a custom map as well as the injectors !
As you said stevie the tuners claims and what these actually make are two differant things, there seems to be a few of them with at least 40 bhp down on claimed figures, it seems to be cured with custom maps though, i dont think they like generics
Another problem seems to be the dv, when uprated the power seems to up too, i woukdnt of thought this would be possible unless its leaking but thats what ive read.
They have a leader board 1/4 mile style on that site too and ive had a look at some threads they dont seem to do much 1/4 miles on it, on the leader board there are only 3 entrys standard was 14.?
Montune 350 13.4 and a 400 pack at 13 dead trapped at 112, i only seen two threads on the forum although im sure ive seen a few in the twelves elsewhere fecknose where i got high 120s from but i must of seen it somewhere because it stuck with me big tbo feck knows seem supercar quick for a trap speed so im maybe getting my wires crossed some where
Yea ill check that out stevie has it got the montune intercooler in it or pro alloy ?
-
Just spoke to ma mate, his terminal is 115mph, had a look at mine at 112mph. He is going Revo Northampton on the 19th. Cant mind, sure it was forge, airtec, pace and some others? Stevie.
-
LOL @ Robin... That was done with all the finesse of someone starting a statement with "I'm not trying to insult you. but......"
Sugar coated FTW!
Oh - I was wrong about modding MKI's. I found this beauty.... Click me for a truck-load of awesome! (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3309273.htm)
-
Really worth doing the vibratechnics lower engine mount. Makes the diff work better and improves traction. Once setup with some camber on the front they handle better than the r26r's imo. They are just setup bad from the factory.
Even in the wet they have very minimal wheel spin. I just couldn't get on with the high driving position and the very odd pedal positions. How do you get on with them?
-
^^
yea the lower mount is on the to do list ! Im dont really mind the driving position tbh, feels fine you can actually remount the recaros lower all you need to do is remove the seat and remount in the lower fixing holes, i seen it in autocar or express or something like that, yea the grip is pretty impressive its not really been raining since i got the car so its only been out in the dry but it digs in, i love the steering on it the rack is nice and quick ! Im really happy with it even as is its got a wow factor when ever you are in it, it never feels like you are in a fast daily driver if you know what i mean ?

What sort of figures does your mate's kick out bud? You Ed30 or S3? Maybe a daft question with your username :ashamed:, but 112mph is bloody good for an S3.. That @ Pod or Crail?

Mk1's are a popular choice on the mod scene Mike.. I know a couple of lads with track slag Mk1's. You only need to go on RS Owners club forum to see how many get tinkered with and spend time on the track.. A lot more raw than the Mk2, but then again they are 200kgs lighter..
The one on the link looks like a lot of kit for the dosh. Not sure I would want to rock up at a track day looking like Marty McFly though.. Those doors... :surprised: :ashamed:
-

....No insults were intended - I was just being honest about what I felt without going into detailed reasons. It wouldn't say much for someone's belief in themselves if they were that bothered about what is merely my opinion. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted at all but if someone has gone as far as buying a Ford, then I'm sure they'll enjoy it and I wish them well - Just not my kind of car.

Hi guys :P, as has been said Mike don't worry about the RS purists, plenty of these getting stripped as track day cars now, I've even shaved a few pounds off my own, it's what they were made to do! :happy2:

Tbh im suprised i didnt get more comments saying people didnt like it, as said robin i love it and othet peoples opinions wont change my mind, it was really hard for me to make the move in to the rs because i dont like fords, really not in to them at all and my car buying habits are 95% vag and bmw, so it was quite a hard choice spending this sort of cash considdering the others in that price range, although nothing else was an option tbh even if i was spending £30k it was the rs or the edition 30 for me !
Hopefully get another gti

Yeah daft question Ron, its an s3. Mate andys mk2 rs has the 400bhp package with the 550cc injectors, not sure the next size of injectors up from that (maybe 750cc) will be fitted before revo on 19th. My s3 run was at crail, pod is a bit far for me, might take a run to york next year test out the wotbox. Cheers, Stevie.
