Post by: Ducky76 on November 04, 2011, 10:50:28 am
Hi peeps

Simple question, does a dsg box limit torque/bhp on a stage 1 map
Cheers andy

Depends who you get the map from.

Yeah, not many Fans of Jabbasport either (They been great on my previous cars), seems you need to be a Revo (Preferably) or APR Fanboy to join the club

Less that more the bad experiences that people have had with certain mappers do tend to shine brighter than the people who have had a good experience.

I have never heard of a stage 1 map's torque being limited by dsg.

Well I have had 2 tuners maps that did :P
They stick on 280lb/ft.

heavyd thats what my torque is showing on AMD stage 1 remap. Could i not go back there (30days moneyback) to tell them to take it off to gain more (if i will) ?

Its up to you mate, but from what I've learnt, I would just stick with what you have.
The stock to stage 1 jump is the biggest jump you will have. stage 2 doesnt really make as much of a difference. Stage 2+ is great!
BUT, after shelling out £3300 to get my engine fixed, the most I'll be going to is stage 2 from now on.
If you are planning to go to stage 2+, get your money back and switch to Revo. This was my graph at Revo stage 2+, no dsg software either, other line is superchips stage 3. Its your choice at the end of the day though. If I could turn back the clock, I would have just stayed with my superchips stage 1 and saved myself loads of hassle and money!!!!

I too, have just had a Autotech fuel pump fitted and AMD Stage 2 plus, my first run before the upgrade was not showing much difference than a standard car but because of the mods I already had I didn't notice (I think a recent service from VW and software upgrades may have overridden it, so they re-applied a file that was missing (which I thought was good of them). With stage two plus and autotech pump its showing 286 Torque they said I have a Boost leak I don't know what difference stage two plus makes over stage one. Although I would have thought my bhp would have gone up, only showing 242hp on RR and mine is also a DSG.  I am going back to see if they can find a boost leak! I did hear you can't get a true figure on rollers with a DSG gearbox is that right? :ashamed:

Noi mate that's not right. DSG or manual the readings on the dyno should be the same unless the operator is rubbish.  :chicken:

Didn't think so, wonder if I have just stage one put back or I do have a boost leak!

Hard to tell. If you can do some logs with VCDS.

Actual vs Requested boost plus N75 duty cycle should confirm and also give an idea how the map is. :happy2:

Any idea what I should be getting with stage 2+, Full miltek, ITG panel filter with carbionio intake , DSG remap and Autotech pump?

On a GTI between 270-280 hp and 290-320 lbft.

On an Ed30 around 320-350 hp and similar torque.

All of this is dependent on dyno lottery and operator skill.

Nope.  Both of mine have ran like a dream.  My choice was between APR, P-Torque and Shark Performance.  P-Torque never replied to my emails, so i discounted them, but would have happily allowed them to map my car if they had replied.

APR and Shark IMO are on par and work off the same ethos.  Neither go for balls out figures and prefer to go for delivery and safe power etc.  Shark offered me the map for free as the development car and thus i have shark Stage 2.  That and the fact my vRS before was gleaming after swapping from bluefin to shark, plus he's very local to me now, and has gleaming customer service which is important.

With APR the extra attraction is the ability to change maps via the cruise control.

Id still consider a change to APR though, purely to allow me to have switchable 98 ron and 100+ron race maps so i can run water meth injection.  But that would be a last resort tbh.  Im quite happy to just use WMI purely as an add on mod and not tune for it at the moment.

Looks like I'll be sticking with a PDT stage 2 as shark wont do me a stage 2 map for my car :surprised: or do I switch to P-Torque or APR, think theyre the only ones left for me to try now

why swap, your still getting 320hp with PDT which tbh isnt to be sniffed at.

Probably will stick with it anyway tbh, from what I can remember it was a nice map anyway, just wasnt as good as the stage 3
I cant load a map on the car until I've run the engine in in anyway

My PDT map torque flatlined at about 280bhp too  :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

*flatlines

Your dyno graph says otherwise......

http://www.dyno-tuning.co.uk/gallery/vwGolfEdition30-3.htm

Your DSG torque limiters were all mapped, this took ages as im sure you remember! Torque flatlines due to lack of fuel, it peaks at 292ft/lb which is spot on for the spec  :happy2:
