Title: VW Dealer Quote for rust on wheelarch....

 Ha Ha! VW dealership Colbournes in Guildford just quoted me over 3000 pounds to fix a small rust patch on my MK5 GTi 2006! The car is only worth 7.5 grand!

They would not do it under warranty as it had been repaired previously (fair enough, you can see where the filler was not rubbed out completely, but a blind man would be glad to see it).

But 3000! I know this is an affluent area, but they must have thought I'd just fallen out of a spaceship!

I've booked the car in at Bells accident repair in Guildford who are doing it for 240 plus VAT!!!!

For £3000, I'd expect a complete respray of the entire car!

Is it on both wings? How bad is the damage?

It's on one wing, the rear of the lip of ther offside wheelearch, where it meets the rear bumper. It's about an inch long!, and is still vcovered by the paint, but it's lifted away from the metal.

I 'd have been too embarassed to say 3 grand if i were the dealer. Thats madness. :stupid:

I know, they wanted to replace the whole rear panel! I've got the quote on an email. I'll have to see if I can get it on here. Mental.

Replace rear quarter panel. Fair play that should cure the rust spots . :signLOL:

I could probably get a new ED35 for what they'd want for a complete respray!  :signLOL:
