Yo yo.
Just thought i'd start this thread to keep up to date with any progress on my Edition 30.
Some of you may of seen my other thread about it here.... http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,38169.0.html
I've only had it a week and i'm properly chuffed with the car, everytime i drive it, it puts a MASSIVE smile on my face, such a capable car! The gearbox just makes it to IMO, in D its proper chilled and sociable, can just burble around slow all day, then when you wanna give it some beef, it works so well with silly quick changes!
The spec...
Steel Grey 3 door.
DSG.
Xenons.
Cruise.
Ipod.
Parking Sensors.
Luxury Pack. (Folding mirrors, puddle lights etc)
Sunroof.
Gave it a good clean at the weekend. Clayed, machine polish, polish and wax'd then had a mooch over to Oulton Park to have a gander at a track day. My mate got a few pics...

Plans...
Not alot until after christmas time tbh, i'm ordering a BSH PCV fix kit tomorrow as i know these are prone to failing! I'll have the wheels off and get them painted sometime over the winter too. I also wanna sort out a multifunction wheel and highline dash, apparently the DSG wheels just need the buttons and everything else is there? Something i wanna look at!
After christmas i'll be collecting bits for Revo Stage 2+
What you think guys? Not a proper spec like some of the cars on here but its a properly clean base to work from so hopefully with some more time and money it will make a good'un! :notworthy:
-
Looks stunning. :happy2:
I like seeing new owners with lots of enthusiasm for the Mk 5 GTI. :congrats:
-
Makes me miss my eddy, V nice mate and a good spec !
-
Cheers boys. Yeah lots of enthusiasm and ideas just not enough money at the mo after buying it! Lol.
I love it standard anyway at the mo too, I've got a Bora TDI as my everyday car so this feels like a rocket ship whenever I drive it... Haha.
-
A couple of updates, nothing major though...
I got some new open fog light grills off a member on here...

Very pleased with the kit. Easy to install and looks proper quality. I just need some new silicone hose as the hose i got isnt quite long enough to put it where i want to. My original PCV looked mint too!
Thats all for now.
-
Perfect mate!
This would by my perfect Edition30/GTi - If only all of them came the same haha.
Be keeping an eye on this to see how you get on :popcornsoda:
-
Nice little mods there mate, car looks sweet mate, definitely my favourite colour for an ED30.
-
Looks lush
-
will happily give you my jetta for your gti :)
-
Great colour and great looking car.
The minor touches so far are all really nice mods :happy2:
Despite having a Steel Grey GTI, looking at others is still a fresh experience
-
will happily give you my jetta for your gti :)
I'm sure you would mate. :P
Cheers boys, i think my MPG has been a bit poo lately, so ill try and take it on a run this week and see if its any better. :happy2:
-
so what does this mod improve then?
-
It's just a permant fix to the ever failing PCV mate. Normally you would just get the plate that bolts onto the rocker cover which basically defeats the PCV. (Its only for emissions anyway i think)
The catch tank is just an add on and catch's any oil, water vapour etc.
-
Looking very nice that, ive got a bit of a soft spot for steel grey! :happy2:
-
So i had it dyno'd today...
I was keen to see what it was kicking out standard before i started playing with it just 'cause i was curious and it would be nice to see what gains i see after i've done bits to it, so i took it a local place by me who specialise in VAG and other general tuning, Vanquish Performance. They use a Dyno Dynamics RR so i know the figures are going to be spot on, the service was also very good too, they're a good bunch of lads!
Anyway, it made 229bhp and 239lb/ft which im pretty chuffed with tbh, thats bang on!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0799.jpg&hash=3e84c83211ccef9db742afeda28f79ac5d679327)

Also got a couple of other things on the go, got some S3 front brakes i'm having refurbed at the minute and i've recently bought and fitted MFSW controls so i just need to go and see Kalu now to have some highline clocks fitted.

Are your first set of photos at cadwell ???

-

Thought id bring this back up from the dead, haven't updated it in aaages and i've had a couple of things done.
Soooo, i bought an ITG kit, it came with ceramic coated hard piping too. This got fitted and the car sounded so much better straight away! Proper turbo sucking noises.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0856.jpg&hash=1bee71f2a53ba47518cce56017dfb23e71e45ca6)
I wasn't into the ceramic coating thought so took it off, got it blasted and powder coated black and bought a new foam heatshield as the other one was tatty, i thought this looked alot better!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0905.jpg&hash=87fba8033ad6a6a45eaf6755a0f38c11f2693e98)

I then had my steering wheel re trimmed by my mate and added later MF buttons for when i fit highline clocks..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0937.jpg&hash=3dfec5a5e404c4043f1d31ceae4b6b55fcb9d95d)

He also leathered the rear of the wheel too, which was a proper nice touch!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0977.jpg&hash=a16bac153424a0342c73d694d0e2c064a9ce3050)
If anyone is after steering wheel re trimming, gimme a shout. :happy2:
Then the proper fun started, i had originally bought a de cat downpipe off TFSI Mike and when i went to collect it from BCS i got chatting to Dave, half an hour later i left with the downpipe i had bought back up for sale so i could get myself booked in for a full exhaust with Dave. I am so chuffed i did this, the car had a 3" turbo back de cat system with their 2 box's, he also wrapped the downpipe for me. The quality is immense and the noise is something else, everyone who hears the car comments on how well it sounds. :notworthy:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FIMG_0954.jpg&hash=19966b73988f14245e27c5270c8f8a1613d71f01)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2F15-1.jpg&hash=38e486c9a990a94eb23dca24ed40686637085eb7)
After this the car got booked in for a cambelt and minor service at VW, i bought Auto tech fuel pump internals along with a brand new cam follower, sadly no pictures of these being fitted but its pretty boring stuff anyway.
The car has then had the map tweeked by a good mate Rick who runs Unicorn Motor Developments, he properly knows his stuff and said he would write me a custom map.
So far its only had a quick play with as Rick needs to map the DSG before we can go more power, the boost has been turned upto 1.2 bar and a bit of fuel added. Its like a totally different car compared to standard, its a proper laugh now, goes really well!
Then at the weekend i managed to get onto a Ford organised rolling road day at Awesome and the car made 320bhp and 320lb/ft. I'm a bit dubious on the figures as we all know Awesomes dyno can be a bit off but i reckon its a genuine 300bhp, deffo feels it!
A quick vid, was chuffed when the lad did a run going through the gearbox, sounds immense!
&feature=youtu.be
And the graph...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftripod_tings%2FEdition_30%2FDyno2.jpg&hash=3f08e3d65b9be60d944c50092d0244490d824e45)
Thats it for now, i'm properly enjoying the car now, whenever i drive it i have a MASSIVE smile on my face! Should hopefully be mapping the DSG and upping to boost to 1.5+ bar over the next couple of weeks, i cant wait.
Hopefully more updates soon. :notworthy:
-
:happy2: mate! cars looking awesome. would love an eddy!
-
Epic motor, everything done right (steering wheel attention to detail is special)
Sounds special aswel, big pops with DSG.
But then you knew all this
