Title: 01271 Positioning Motor fault
Post by: skard on January 09, 2012, 06:44:47 pm
Hi guys

When recently swapping out my electric aux heater I managed to knock off the motor under the glovebox (the one with yellow arm that moves when I adjust the temperature on climatic unit - 1K2907511C). In the process of knocking it off a bit plastic snapped meaning it no longer secured onto the other arm.

Had a fault code thrown and assumed it's because the arms must have got detached again, as during recent three hour drive I only had hot air being blown.
Got another motor and put it in today. All connected up, watched it adjust when different temp selected - cold blows cold, hot blows hot.

Went into VCDS, ran basic settings for the climatic system but the fault code still comes up, although no explanation of a fault...

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
000 -

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I hate seeing faults in a scan and as far as I can tell, have fixed the fault? Doesw this fault actually relate to this motor and it's a coincidence?

Any input appreciated.

Seem to have sorted it.

:ashamed: In my haste installing it I hadn't pushed the motor far enough into one of the indents, which hold it in place (if you ever take the motor out you'll see what I mean). Basically the motor was moving with the arm and thus not allowing it to fully extend open.

Ran Basic Settings afterwards and the fault has gone. I now have hot AND cold air available!
