So theres a post asking what you got AFTER your Ed30, but what about the car BEFORE you got your ED30 (what did you trade up/down from?)
I will start my previous was a 52 Plate Magic black 3 Door GTI 1.8T, bought it at 3.5 years old and sold after owning it for just over 5 years (% years and 2 months to be precise!).
-
I had a '56' Fabia Vrs with some extra's. Had it from new and kept it up until november this year. Great car. Its replacement is even better though :happy2:
-
This open to pauper owners of the totally inferior standard GTI?
-
Mk4 GTI anniversary pd, bought in april 06, on 15k, sold aug 11, with 72k.
-
A BMW 330ci M Sport/AC Schnitzer ACS3 (3.0 straight six supercharged)
one of only 15 in the country. sounded gorgeous but not too family friendly with child and a labrador
-
997 GT3rs, great car but needed something more practical so got the Golf..
-
I had a 1.8T Mk4 Anniversary so the Ed30 was the obvious upgrade choice! :happy2:
-
Before the ED30 a standard mk5 GTI.
-
Mk 3 8 valve, great car rubbish GTi

Yes why not Andrewparker, maybe your next will be an ED30?

Haha, no chance. Why would I want to buy a car that is very slightly different to the one I have?
There's loads of previous cars threads. Seems daft to start another that alienates a lot of people on this forum.

Audi TT 2.0T Coupe - Brilliant red with 19" RS4 style alloys
needed something more practical when child number 2 came along. It was our second car but still needed for emergencies hence the Golf now

Alienating previous owners was not my intention, seeing how many came from std GTI to Ed30 was my intention :P
-
i had a Mk4 V6 4motion - still miss the sound - especially the Miltek..

You might get a better response if you worded your question differently. Why does it interest you by the way?
-
Why does anything interest anyone?, purely out of interest/Curiosity, not sure how else i can/should answer that question?
maybe its because as I personally upgraded from MK4 1.8T and wondered how many others did the same (natural progression?) or if they specifically wanted an Ed30 having had something totally different.
-
MK4 1.8T (rubbish) MK4 PD150 (awesome) MK5 GTI (even more awesome) ED30 because some scrote nicked it.
-
A mk3 Ibiza cupra. 210 bhp and a go-kart :driver:

Interior, Exterior and engine, think that covers it
Or one could say engine internals, Turbo, Bodykit, Wheels, Complete Inerior, quite differebt really
-
2 x Standard Mk5 GTi's and in between a Passat Estate 170 DSG in between the 2 GTi's.
Edition 30 currently.

Larger Turbo from S3 (K04) rather then the K03 on the GTI
87°C thermostat instead of 80°C
Larger capacity fuel injectors (13% higher flow)
Engine block main bearing caps, pedestals are reinforced
Conrods have larger rod bolts and new bearings
Pistons have 21mm gudgeon pins instead of 19mm
Piston top ring is improved
Recirculation Valve (blow off valve) not located on turbo
The Audi S3 and the Edition 30/Pirelli/Seat Leon Cupra R share the same short block, same turbo and similar intercooler.
Thats just the engine, then theres interior, Wheels, colour coded.............

Wow, I'd be enlightened, but I (like 99% of normal people) don't know what most of that means, so it's complety irrelevant.
To most people you get a Golf that is a bit faster and that has bland wheels.

Fair point, for me it was a choice made with the potential for tuning the engine. And the wheels are far from "bland". Monzas in my eyes only really suit a candy GTi. Got any white worm yet?
-
Nah, got a perfect set of Detroits and some 17" Monzas for bad weather.

were detroits not from Euro Editions 30's?
-
I think so yes.

I love the pesacara's and really dont like the STD GTI wheels (not hate but dislike), I "personally" (Do I need to re-iterate that?) think the Std GTI wheels look a bit naff and for me a std GTI from the outside (apart from wheels) looks no different to my mothers Golf 1.6FSI, this is why I went for the Ed30, that along with what another member said about tuning potential (which I intend to do), I quite fancy 290-300hp just on stg 1 remap thanks :happy2:
-
I don't think there is a better wheel for the MK5 than a Monza 2! :notworthy:
Pescara's are a bit to fussy in my mind.

Honda Integra Type-R (DC2). Its the best handling car I've owned but it got tiresome to live with day to day and i wanted something a bit more comfy with some mod cons.

Im still looking for my eddy....and finding one and the time to view it is a nuisance! Anyhow Im embarrassed to say given the quality of some of the previous metal members have had....
I've had a 1.25 mark IV fiesta and then onto my current car a 1.4 polo mark IV '03 brought it with 38K currently on 61K and counting....I know i don't really qualify but its a good thread....
-
No Edition 30 for me, just a GTI
It's only my 3rd car, the previous 2 being a MK4 TDI followed by a MK5 TDI. I've only ever had Golfs

BMW 320d M-Sport Coupe - great fuel economy, not sure on brand and really not practical for mountain biking... Have driven an oil burner for last 4 years (Leon FR before BMW) so petrol is a revelation....
