Hi guys need some info, whats the crack with the coil pack recall has anyone just gone into vw and had them replaced or do you have to take it in for them to fit them. Only reason i am asking as i gave just popped out to pick up a curry and bloody 2 of them have gone down. Or at least i hope they have. I always keep my little code reader in my car for emergency like this. Fault come came up as misfire on cyl 1+2 so fingers crossed its just those. I will have to do a further investigation in the morning.

Just ring them up and give them your reg plate number.
I've so far had mine checked/replaced on my 8L S3 (now sold), B7 A4 2.0T Quattro and MK5 GTI with no issues.
They replaced all 4 on my GTI :drinking:
-
Cheers fella, i'll b on the blower first thing monday morning.

There wasn't an official VW recall, it was called a campaign whereby the dealer would check your car on their database to see if it needed the newer coilpacks.
-
What year is your GTI? Just as it only covers certain years! If you have in ther 07K 905 715 F then that's the newest revision and, you'll have to buy them as they won't be covered.
-
had mine done in November when I was getting my rusty arches done.
They finished repairing the arches & phoned to say that the paintwork was done, but according to their system required new coil packs & programming.
Mines a 2005 car

Right just been out to the car and swapped 2 coil packs over from the bro inlaws car, checked part no's and both were same. Fired it up and still running like a dog and wont tick over. Gonna check plugs tomorrow if failing those then anyone else got any ideas what could be up. Starting to panic now. :scared:

got any logs?

No mate no logs as i dont have vagcom. Took out plugs and coilpacks this morning. Im gonna go and get some new plugs an coil packs as neither look too clever. Plugs have been in around 7 months a few pics. Also noticed that coilpacks smell really badly burnt and you can see from one of the pics that one doesnt look too clever. 3 of them are 07K 905 715 C and one is 07K 905 715 F as the one that is ending F i replaced as one went down on me last year before i knew about the recall. Car is a 56 plate

Id change those plugs as they look knackered!
-
Ye there out and ready for new ones tomorrow. Eurocar parts aint open today though
-
I see you have the denso plugs but I would get some ngk irridiums as they work out cheaper than the standard ngk plugs. I got the BKR7EIX for £25 a set.
-
Do halfrauds sell em or anywhere that may be open today. Where did you get yours from. I have gsf and eurocarparts local to me but wont be open until tomorrow
-
I purchased mine from a shop called Allwoods buts thats a chain of shops local to Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire. I have just searched on Halfrauds website and they dont stock them.
-

Hmm, unless your car had the recall items done before you got it, I think your dealer is not checking the database correctly.
-
You can check under your boot carpet to see if there is a sticker with ref: 28F5.
This should be there if the the coil packs have been replaced (well I have one).
-
When i phoned to book my car in for DSG service they ran a check and said it required the coilpack recall. So should be getting new ones in a couple of weeks :happy2:
