Just thought I'd drop in and say Hi.
Picked up a black four door 56 plate gti two weeks ago with 29k on it and loving it. Had plenty of quick cars in the past but never had a GTI and always wanted one. Hit 40 a couple of weeks ago so thought I'd treat my self.
Looked at quite a few before buying one, but happy with my choice. Tried a couple of DSG cars but wasn't 100% convinced so went manual.
Will soon be getting onto chipped uk for a new map for my ST3 to tap into the cars hidden potential
Want to find some nice wheels now so off to look at the classified section :happy2:

Got it in the fastest colour, too!
Think Greenouse still has rims for sale? They're Monza IIs in black with a red lip (border). Would look lush on a black car. I'd have bought them if I had the cash, which I would if I hadn't bought his other rims!

Welcome aboard from another 'over 40' member, however I've been driving GTI's since I was a teenager!
I've had an ST3 for over a year now and touch wood it's been fine and does the job. Makes the car drive how it should from the factory.
As for wheels, well there's so much choice, but as above, Greenouse's black Monza IIs look fantastic. I'm guessing yours is sat on standard 17s? I think Monza IIs are hard to beat style-wise for the mk5 and probably why VW have kept them on for the mk5.5 mk6, just try and find a set that are either cheap to do a custom re-furb or mint as they suffer big finish problems.

Hello again, and thanks for the warm welcome.
It's running on 18's diamond cut face monza's (are they monza II's ?), but the previous owner introduced them to a few kerbs so 2 need a refurb, one is ok and one is unmarked.
Got dragged out by the mrs earlier so never made it to the classifieds, will have a look now ?
How does the car handle on 19's ? does it destroy the ride or is it ok?
Thanks again.

Ahem...its because VW are being cheap and didnt want to spend money on designing new rims. They are nice though, should be exclusive to the MK5 though and not this new cheaper built thing they are calling a MK6.
Welcome to the forum btw, Keep the Monza II's and just get them refurbed with the black inserts...transforms the look of the car.

Thanks for the additional welcomes, friendly site this :happy2:
Thanks for the pointer re your wheels, I'm not sure on gloss black though tbh.
