Title: Dustcaps
Post by: suave on February 08, 2012, 09:45:39 pm
Anyone got nice VW Dustcaps or is it just not worth it as they invariably get nicked anyway?

I had some metal VW caps on but the kids at the local skate park obviously preferred them on there BMX's as 2 got pinched. They are only about £0.80 each from VW. :happy2:

The Richbrook anti theft spinning ones are the best I have used. Had the same set for nearly four years and they are still mint!  :happy2:

Only thing you have to watch with metal dustcaps is of they corrode on. You will never get them off if left for long periods of time. The girlfriends did on her old Astra but luckily sold it before having to have new valves.

Surprising, as would think you have to take them off to put pressure in/check the pressure quite often which I would have thought would reduce the risk of that.

.
I've had all sorts of dustcaps and found that scumbags like to steal the metal ones. The anti-theft ones are a hassle and don't work well anyway. Plastics are better than metal which can 'freeze' on. I now have lime green plastic dustcaps. I wasn't as brave as SteveP in having lime green wheels!
