Title: Brake warning Light BUT not low

Ive had my brakes looked at due to the brake pad sensor light coming on.

The brakes have 45% front and 60% rear left but the light is on, when the light is cleared via vagcom it comes back on

what could be the problem??

what could i check to make sure its ok??or to find the problem

any help i much appreciated

This may not be your problem but I had my sensor light come on too.
It's not even hooked up with the front brake set up I've got so knew it wasn't wear and on checking we found the sensor had sheared partly off (possibly a stone) so it was causing a short and the light had come on, may be worth checking yours.

It's probably a short in the wiring on the pad (as stated above).

If it annoys you, the pad warning can be disabled in 17-Intruments.

It is most likely the pad wear sensor connector. It is located on the front left brake and can sometimes fracture or break. TPS keep these in stock as it is a common problem. The fix is a part loom which has the brake pad sensor and abs sensor connector on it. Basically you cut the old loom off and splice in the new one. It is easy to do as I had this problem on mine and fixed it recently.

It would also be worth checking your brake fluid as i understand that if this reaches below a certain level it will also trigger the warning light...

cheers everyone for your replies, i will get the wheel off at the weekend and investigate

the brake fluid has just been topped up so that should be fine

The harness only cost me £24.36 and part number is 1K0 927 903B

Do you have highline? If yes then it should give you a more detailed description of the fault when you first turn on the ignition.

had the wheel off on friday and found my problem

pretty sure that should be attached to the brake pad

will it have to be a new brake pad or is it repairable??

If there is enough wire from the brake pad then you will be able to rejoin them up again.

or just join the two ends of wire together, and keep an eye on the brake pads for now until they do go down then when they do get low or near to low you can change them up for pads with an intact connector...
