Hi Fella's,
As some of you may be aware I have been working closely with Gareth @ DMR for a good while and last summer we made the decision to join forces full time and take the business to the next level with some purpose built premises.
We spent most of last summer trawling the local area and beyond to find a suitable premises to run both the detailing business and my Car Sales business from one location.
To say we are happy with what we have found is an understatement and I thought I'd share some of our journey with you. So here is the site on day one, yes some imagination was required!!

But things did progress quite quickly.......
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FIMG_3166.jpg&hash=9e1937dd6d6fb4d12dd68bd2fbd710ec7e40ee5b)

Floor in so we can start to get an idea of the size of the place!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjj468%2Fdetailmyride_2009%2F996cc2ea.jpg&hash=5d63eaf5ee47647cd05894a5141f836a07b558a1)

Exterior cladding nearly there!

And finally the unit was ready and we got our hands on the keys!!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FIMG_4185.jpg&hash=087221c9b6c39efb92c2e73c8a004fc341b6332b)

Then the hard really work began!
First and foremost we needed the floor to be fit for purpose so it had to be done to a professional level so first an acid etch was applied to the new concrete, then a layer of primer and finally the top coat. It had to be then left for seven days to cure!!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjj468%2Fdetailmyride_2009%2F826848c3.jpg&hash=568c5c5f49534ecc3e4d4325de36d8b6e56d738c)

And finally after several days of cleaning sweeping and painting in sub zero temps the floor was ready!!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjj468%2Fdetailmyride_2009%2Fc35f6b8e.jpg&hash=373783782a1f0fbc580e4cf5cabafec1d1f79115)

Then finally the moving in started! :jumpmove:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjj468%2Fdetailmyride_2009%2F68d665b4.jpg&hash=6755590960933fb6ff797825275487b5fef1e644)

Nice mate nice :happy2:
I'd love a unit like that but being so coastal they don't exist, I almost bought an old ambulance station last year but the dirt track to it was a real issue with keeping cars clean or getting lowered cars anywhere near it
Might do what you've done and get something built, top marks mate and good luck :drinking:

Yes Ben the standard Black appears to be a lot softer than DBP. In fact its possible to leave a swirl type scratch by running your finger over a small spot on the paint!! :surprised:

Yup not surprised as much now at the state it was in, but then again it had no protection whatsoever on the paintwork......
-
Cheers for confirming my thoughts :happy2: It explains alot of the marks that have suddenly appeared on my car since the last time I washed it :fighting:
Ben
-
Surely they have the same clear coat though?
-
Surely they have the same clear coat though?
Yes but you could say that about all cars, but some paints are harder than others and all have a top coat. It may well be more top coat is applied to a metallic to enhance the metallic finish?
