Hi Chaps,
After admiring this particular car on last years Ring trip I finally got my hands on her to give her some much needed TLC! We carried out a light enhancement detail, as well as refinishing two sets of alloys. A set of 19" Talladega alloys in High Gloss Black, and a second set of 18" Team Dynamics Pro Race also in High Gloss black which are used mainly as track wheels. We also re-painted some very sorry looking brakes, having only covered a few hundred miles they had already rusted over (no surprise there then!).
Process:
- Wheels were only lightly rinsed off due to being removed for refinish
- Tyres/arches cleaned using AS G101, vikan brushes
- Citrus pre-wash via foam lance, to remove loose debris/dirt, high pressure rinse
- Bodywork, door shuts etc washed using Auto Finesse Lather, 2BM and lambswool mitts
- Paintwork decontaminated with AS Tardis, contamination removed using Iron X
- Paintwork cleansed using Dodo Juice Lime Prime prior to waxing.
- Paintwork was using Dodo Juice Supernatural
- Freshly refinished wheels lightly polished by hand, sealed using Mint Rims
- Tyres, plastics and rubbers dressed with Car Pro Perl, glass cleaned, corroded exhaust tips cleaned
- Light interior detail, include mats/carpets clean, fabrics, plastics etc, glass cleaned

Unfortunatly we didn't manage to get any pics with the bolt covers on as they came with the customer when he collected.
Thanks for looking, comments and questions welcome!

Love the turnaround. Such an awesome looking car.
How do you find the autofinesse shampoo?
Surprised you went for SN. Was it the hybrid or V2?
-
Do you always favour a citrus pre-wash over a snow foam?
Looks great, must have been very satisfying, particularly considering the levels of contamination.
-
BBBBBooooooooooooo!
Looks lovely, bet Brian is happy?
Those exhausts need sorting still, they stick out far too much!

Don't mention that bloody exhaust Dave! He's still banging on about it to anyone who will listen! :indifferent:

What make is it Mark?
I would have had it back to get sorted.
-
Yeah, I was going to say that exhaust looks ridiculous!

Its a VWR Milltek but nobody at either VWR or Milltek seemed interested in sorting the problem for him so I contacted Nige at BCS and he is hopefully sorting him out a new system. Obviously I have only heard Mark's side of the story but its been going on far to long now.
-
Lovely car :) wish I had enough money for one :)
-
Ha I've just looked at this thread and lovely car and as I read down the pages that was going to be my first criticism the exhaust! The only other thing is the gap between arches and wheels still Looks rather large. :happy2:

Why surprised Jaz?

Just depends on the car and how bad/contaminated the car is. We actually snow foamed this twice too as we had to use so much Tardis and IronX. :happy2:
-
Figured you would have put a sealant instead of a wax Not surprised at the choice of SN though!
-
Lovely car, super work Nath.
White cars still float my boat especially when detailed.

I only use sealants on my car Jaz. I still hate hybrid though.
Power lock looks amazing on candy white and pearl black.
Great work guys. The R looks amazing. Gem wants a Rocco R next. But I want a Golf R or even the Golf RS. Might have to have one of both.
-
My fault. Meant sealants which are supposed to provide a better finish on white cars.
-
So a little update on this as the car was in today for a Maintenance top up. The customer also wanted me to replace his silver VW badges with some Black ones he had bought, so I happily obliged as the car had been aching for this little mod for some time.
I also adjusted the exhaust tips as they really were starting to look ridiculous!! :rolleye:
Oh and just for Stealth, I treated her to a coat of Auto Finesse's Tough Coat Sealent. (although the car was still beading really well as the Dodo SN Hyrbrid was still doing it's thing). :happy2:

To be honest I'd quite happily scrub them back to the chrome finish but as I understand it they are going back under warranty.

Ahhh ok. Not a fan of those, they just look sooted up.

Fantastic job there Nath.
Maybe I should come up at some point for you to sort out my R's bug splattered front end (and whole car) after its recent Ring trip
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.tapatalk.com%2F5696ce0f-c242-3d14.jpg&hash=346ff9f5c752c66005319dc6653e86977f037d3a)
Nige / Markymark,
What's the BCS system sound like compared to the Milltek then, especially at low revs? Is it as drony/boomy as the Milltek? hope not! Have contemplated changing mine for something else. Can't even put the original back on as never got it back as promised.
-
I heard a BCS system at jkm on Saturday, and really couldn't tell the difference between that and a milltek, stood behind it listening if I'm honest.

Be happy to make her better than new for you Lee! :happy2:
I had a go in this earlier in the week and to be honest the system wouldn't suit me. It's as quiet (if not quieter) at low revs and tick over but does open up nicely under boost!! But I like a bit of noise all the time, but thats just me!
