If you only want to fit springs then H&R springs lower the most, pretty sure all other springs only lower 20-25mm

Eibach or H & R are probably your choices. Eibach Pro kit "softer"' Eibach Sportlines "harder"'. Never used H & R springs but heard good things (more expensive). If you want an exact drop it's adjustable coilovers but if not you pays yours money!

See here for a pic of Mk5 on H&R's:

I've got them on mine and the ride quality is fine, just right for the GTI IMO.  :happy2:

H&R's 29176-1 lowered 45mm  :happy2:

(another 10mm lower would be perfection IMO)

This is on H&R lowering springs, the ride's great. Very slightly stiffer than standard but at the same time not too low as to cause problems with speed-humps etc. Great feel to the car when cornering!

What's the product code for the H & R springs for the ED30, seem to do 2 "drops", 1 of 30mm and 1 off 50mm or am I reading it wrong? Which do you have in yours AndyED30? Cheers

As far as I can see there are mk5 Gti H&R's and there are normal mk5 golf H&R's.

Gti ones lower 30-50mm (about 45mm)
Part no 29176-1

http://www.ppcgb.com/HandR-Lowering-Spring-Golf-V-GT-Sport-GTI/prod15584/

Normal Golf
Part no 29261-1

http://www.ppcgb.com/HandR-Lowering-Springs-VW-Golf-VandGolf-PlusandJetta-V_2/prod17703/

This advert says lowers 35mm but most people report that these don't drop the car at all  :stupid:
I think they must drop a normal golf but since the Gti is already 15mm lower than a standard mk5 the difference of 20mm isn't obvious like the other springs!

The ED30's already lower in standard format than the GTI so it's a 30mm drop compared to the regular GTI which "I think" will be 45mm.

Monte's right about the non-GTI too because this will be even more of a drop.

I got mine from APS in Brackley, fitted and aligned http://www.autops.co.uk/productlist.asp?catalog=020804&manu=&search=

Just ask the distributer and I'm sure they'll check.

Cheers, Andy.

The ED30  isn't any lower than a standard GTI   they both have the same suspension  :happy2:

Discussed to death on the forum. Think the rumour started as people read it in Evo mag or summat . . . .

Yeah, Correct! I think he might have confused the Gti with the Standard Mk5.

GTi/Ed30/Pirelli are all same and are 15mm lower than standard Mk5.

With the links I posted, this means that the 29261-1 springs for a standard mk5 will only lower the car 15mm lower than a standard GTi.

The proper GTi H&R's will lower the GTi about 40-45mm (on my car).

Another 10mm lower would look perfect IMO, but I'm very happy with the looks and performance of the 29176-1's  :notworthy:

I'd go for these

http://www.gnjmotorsport.com/products/H%26R-30mm-Lowering-Springs-Golf-5-GTi-2.0T-FSi-%2810%7B47%7D04%252d%29.html

Or these

The quoted lowering amounts are for the GTI on our site. Great prices too  :happy2:
