Title: Removing scratches from gloss black plastic
Post by: tuglet on April 21, 2012, 10:40:32 pm
Hi

I've got some scratches on the gloss black part of my front bumper, just above the number plate. I have some Meguiars ScratchX that I use on the bodywork with some success. Can I use this on the black gloss bumper too?

Cheers

The megs stuff might be a bit too coarse mate. Have you tried something like LimePrime? If the scratches are quite bad then you do want to work through from a coarse to fine paste. A polisher will be of great use, if not then good old elbow grease. Ideally, protect very well once polished with a good wax.

HTH.

Does the plastic in question have a smooth or textured finish.

Sure he said it was the gloss black sections, found on the front bumper and pillars.  :happy2:

Yep, that's the bit. Smooth as a baby's proverbial.
