Title: Lone_Par's diamond black MK5 Golf GTI
Post by: Lone_Par on May 03, 2012, 10:08:17 pm
Had a my MK5 07 plate golf gti for a month now, so thought I'd start posting here now. Nothing major done at the moment other than a minor detail using Auto Finesse products, I've added GTI decals to the front seat handles, fitted a pioneer avh-2400BT head unit and had the rear windows tinted in light smoke.

The next thing on the to do list is getting the Monza's refurbished by The Wheel Specialist in Aberdeen. Going for Satin Matt Black. Then it's eibach sport lines and rear calipers repainted. Also got a black VW for the front grill and going to replace the interior lights with LEDs.

Just after I bought it...

A few after a decent clean and the window tints.

Got the wheels refurbished in matt black today at the wheel specialists - very happy with the end result. I know they won't be everyone's cup of tea but I like em!!!

Next up led conversion internally and I've got Westons osir instrument surround on order!

Sportlines are being fitted next month and rear calipers are being powder coated at the same time.

It's just a cover mate so it sticks over the top of the instruments. 5 minute job.

Couple of updates. Fitted my R32 rear lights a couple of weeks back. Excuse the filthy car.  :ashamed:

And I'm off to the Stone Roses this weekend, so while I am, the car is being dropped off with my mate who works in Trix (Dunfermline) and these are being fitted:

I'm also getting all 4 calipers freshly powder coated and a new Rev G diverter valve fitted.

I'm away to Dallas for 3 weeks in August so that will be the main spending until then!

So while I was enjoying the Stone Roses this weekend, my GTI was in with my mate at Trix in Dunfermline to get the calipers painted, rev G diverter valve fitted and a set of eibach sportlines. It was also given a full detail courtesy of my mate who works there! Only got iPhone photos for now so apologies.

Before...the paint literally flaked off every time the car was washed....

So, not really done much to the car since getting the sportlines fitted in August. Today however I fitted a new iPhone dock connector as I wanted something that was fairly discreet, so avoiding dashmounted solutions etc. A nice cheap and cheerful 'mod' really. Bought a compact USB charger, dock from eBay and a short 12cm dock cable.

The end result. Will see how I get on with it at the moment but for less than £10 all in, you can't really complain!! I just hope Pioneer get their finger out and release the firmware that lets you control the music from the head unit as this disappeared following the iOS6 update.

This is going on over the weekend, weather permitting. New high level brake light as mine has stopped playing the game.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm9.staticflickr.com%2F8078%2F8318188276_0b1c5c7435.jpg&hash=7087161fea013bbb8d70cd8a388b3a0955fdec51)

And the Carbonio will be on by the end of Jan, just in time for my insurance renewal.

Fitted the 10 polo aerial today. Always hated the standard golf one and had replaced it with a smaller bee sting type, but wanted a more OEM look. It unfortunately hasn't improved the radio reception (not an issue really), but that may be resolved through the Kenwood 521DAB that I'm thinking about getting!!

Can't take the credit for them. My mate Andy at Trix in Dunfermline did the business.

Wee update, nothing major.

Eventually got round to getting the MTEC brakes fitted.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm9.staticflickr.com%2F8108%2F8620982737_9261e6a6b3_z.jpg&hash=a16bf686505789dbe60f72a4b321ef365a59dbbe)

Also a bit of carbon - gloss black fog surrounds. Need to spend a bit more time to persuade the top corner of the surround to fit so the carbon is more flush to the fog. The gloss black definetly make a huge difference over the standard surrounds, as they were looking slightly tired.

And the carbon wrapped boot badge and front badge from Simon (Brookesb32). Fitted the front, but the removing the black boot lining turned out to be tougher than expected so that will wait till i've got more time.

Next up - some more carbon and BBS's!!
