Some funny stuff but is there a common reason why some of the cars were failing - some had smoke and some had a brief flash of fire?

Too much power usually. Uk cars dont tend to blow up as much, but in the USA and Australia they love pushing things as far as possible and this is the result. Some of these videos are from BHP competitions and every bhp matters so they go all out to achieve big numbers.

Touch wood I only blew one car up on my dyno!!!!!

I think the fact of me adding around a 5000hp shot of NOS direct into the throttle body helped towards all 4 pistons, valves and spark plugs....  but not to worry guys it was only a 100hp scrap Rover 25.

(the NOS made 100bhp gain 120lbft@1800rpm gain before the engine melted after 4 second)
